Ikpeazu added that the improved network of good roads is responsible for the improvements in security of lives and property and the upsurge in commercial activities which has in turn given confidence to traders from Akwa Ibom and other neighboring states to visit Aba for procurement of goods and services.

“We don’t do half measures in road construction. We always try to build roads that will outlive our administration. We won’t abandon Port Harcourt road but will work hard to fix as much of it as time and resources will permit us before we leave office. We started working on the road through a partnership with a contractor, the government paid an initial One Billion Naira and so far the drains have been established on both sides of the road. So we have completed the drainage channelling of Port Harcourt road from end to end. The road is too important to me than even you the generating set dealers. Faulks road is almost completed; it will be the same thing with Port Harcourt road soon, God on our side. Nobody believed Ngwa road would be reconstructed. Nobody believed we would complete the Osisioma Ngwa flyover. But today, they’ve all been done. We will rebuild Port Harcourt road. All we need is your support and prayers.”

He promised to commence palliative work along the road to give better access to the plant dealers.

Earlier, chairman of the Generator dealers, Port Harcourt road, Hon. Obidike Erugo, who thanked the Governor for his infrastructural renewal projects in Aba, urged him to rehabilitate Port Harcourt road to provide access road in the area.

Emir of Zazzau in Kaduna State, Mallam Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has warned residents of the emirate especially Gwargwaje youths to desist from a planned demonstration scheduled to hold today, Friday.

This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Zaria.

This followed the incident of high electricity voltage supply to the area that resulted in the electrocution of about 11 persons and destruction of property in the Gwargwaje area of Zaria, Kaduna State.

I Don't Assist Those Without PVCs, They're Part Of Our Problem — Udensi [VIDEO]

A governorship aspirant in Abia and Interpol Systems Consultant, Sir Chikwe Udensi has said he is not helping able-bodied persons who do not have their permanent voter’s card, saying it is an act of irresponsibility.

He said such persons are part of the problem the country is having, insisting that he is serious and unapologetic with the decision.

Speaking on Love FM’s Open Parliament in Umuahia on Wednesday monitored by ABN TV, the chieftain of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in responding to questions on those qualified to benefit from his second phase of retirees and senior citizens palliative ongoing in the state said only those who have their PVCs are qualified to benefit.

According to him, there is a problem of bad leadership in the land, which can only be changed through a democratic process.

This change he said can only be achieved through voting, noting that those who are presented with an opportunity to make positive changes in the land but refused to do so are part of the problem by not having their PVCs to vote.

“If you are a retiree, and you don’t have your PVC, you are part of the problem, you are happy that people are suffering. You are happy that we are in this situation.

“So you must have to have the tool, you must have to have the power to change. If you don’t have that power to change, then you are part of our problem,” he said.

He insists that only elderly persons and retirees with their PVCs and corresponding identity cards will be attended to in the charity outreach which involved distribution of cash and food items.

Sir Udensi said evil has persisted in the land because of the silence of the good people, maintaining that this will not be tolerated anymore..

“Perhaps you are even worse than the person doing the evil, because you have chance to change the evil”, he said.

At the ongoing palliatives distribution, his organisation Chikwe Udensi Foundation spearheading the outreach exempted the physically challenged persons from the policy.
