Presidential aide Femi Adesina is not moved by the recent wave of migration, sayings many Nigerians have always wanted to leave the country.

He spoke on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, maintaining that the situation does not apply to Nigeria alone.

“The average Nigerian had always wanted to leave. And it is not just in Nigeria. It is in most countries of the world, particularly in the third world,” he said during the show. “They always believe that it is greener on the other side.”

“You see, the truth is that if you have an opportunity to better yourself in any part of the world, there is nothing wrong with it. If you think migrating legally is good for you, all well and good. By all means, go!” he added.

“But you cannot now say that because people are leaving, then it is a sign that something is fundamentally wrong.”

As far as he is concerned, “There are Nigeria who would never leave the country no matter how things are”.

Governor Wike

APC in Rivers State says it is clear that Nigerians no longer take seriously comments credited to Governor Nyesom Wike.

Governor Wike had during a project commissioning in Obio-Akpor local government area on Saturday accused former governor Rotimi Amaechi of emptying the state treasury before leaving office in 2015.

But the spokesman of APC in the state, Darlington Nwauju in reaction to the comment, said Amaechi will not engage in a media war with his former Chief of staff.

Nwauju, however, said it is important to set the record straight by confirming that Amaechi has to the credit of his administration, the “Agip, Eliozu Obiri Ikwere, Eleme, and Woji flyover projects”.

He maintained that the projects like others under Amaechi’s administration were done with “utmost regard for due process as they went through competitive bidding processes with premium standards delivered in the best interest of Rivers people”.

Nwauju further claimed that while the Amaechi’s administration had an Internally Generated Revenue of between “N1.5bn to 1.9bn monthly to work with”, the Wike administration is getting between “N10bn and N15bn monthly in IGR”.

The APC spokesman said the APC can beat its chest and boast that its leader and former Governor Minister of Transportation did so much for Rivers State including the “employment of 13,000 teachers, and 400 doctors”.

He further stated that pharmacists and nurses were all employed “without clannish, tribal or political sentiments” unlike what he said recently happened at the Rivers State University where according to him only persons from Governor Wike’s community were given employment against the Oath of Allegiance sworn-to by the governor.

APC Presidential Aspirants Have Abandoned Tinubu, Only Lawan Left With Him — Babafemi

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Jimoh Babafemi says presidential aspirants and their supporters that contested and lost the party’s ticket to Bola Ahmed Tinubu have gone cold except those that campaigned for Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

Babafemi in a chat with journalists on Saturday in Lagos expressed displeasure over the attitudes of some party chieftains who are still not happy with Tinubu’s emergence at the presidential primary.

He commended Senate President Ahmad Lawan and his supporters which included the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Governor Hope Uzodinma, Senator Sani Musa, Senator Jubril Barau, Femi Fani-Kayode, and others for their efforts in campaigning and mobilizing for Tinubu.

“Ahmad Lawan and his supporters including Hope Uzodinma, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Barau Jubril, Senator Sani Musa, and Fani Kayode are working hard for Tinubu and the APC like they are doing it for Lawan. These people are patriotic chieftains of the APC. Others have suddenly gone cold after losing the primary. They are non-committal to the presidential ambition of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The current Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige on national television even refused to openly endorse Tinubu. We have not heard from Amaechi’s people, Osinbajo’s team and so many others. They suddenly went cold without doing much. I sincerely commend Distinguished Senator Ahmad Lawan and his Group for showing and proving to be solid party chieftains by spearheading the campaign of Bola Ahmed Tinubu across Nigeria.”

On the 2023 presidential election, Babafemi said the APC would record a landslide victory, judging by Tinubu’s accomplishments and leadership capacity.

Babafemi said that the massive support being enjoyed by the party was a pointer to its victory in the 2023 general election.

He said that the presidential candidate of the party Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has track records of unprecedented accomplishments during his days as Lagos State governor to show for his bid to succeed President Muhamadu Buhari.

He said that Tinubu was the most acceptable among the Presidential candidates for 2023 because he has built bridges across the country’s geo-political zones as well as building people.

“Tinubu has built an empire out of many Nigerians who crossed paths with him ever since his foray into public office and these accomplishments would count for him in 2023.

“He has paid his dues as a democrat and leader. Tinubu is running against Tinubu because these Nigerians and many others who believe in his vision for a better Nigeria, are today mostly his fo

To ensure sustainability and resilience, we will stop borrowing for consumption.

“It is also imperative that henceforth, we should strive to operate within available resources and strive for a balanced national budget as cost-saving measures.”

Aisha Yesufu Carpets Buhari’s Wife Aisha Over Twitter User’s Arrest

Social activist, Aisha Yesufu, has slammed Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari, for allegedly ordering the arrest and detention of Aminu Muhammed over an alleged defamatory social media post.

Muhammed, who is a final-year student in the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology, Federal University Dutse, Jigawa State, had in June tweeted in Hausa “Su mama anchi kudin talkawa ankoshi” loosely translated as “the mother has gotten fatter by eating masses’ money.”

As gathered, Aminu had tweeted to express displeasure over the then prolonged strike action of the Academic Staff Union of Universities as a result of the failure of the Federal Government to honour its agreement with the union.

It was further gathered that 23-year-old Muhammed was picked up by officers of the Department of State Services on November 8 on campus and was reportedly beaten up following his arrest at about 12:00 noon.

Yesufu, who who took to her YouTube channel on Sunday, commented on the development, describing Muhammed’s arrest as unconstitutional and outrageous.

The #BringBackOurGirls co-convener said the President, major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), regime had led 133 million Nigerians to poverty.

“Aisha Buhari should be ashamed of herself. This is so unlawful. Her husband has thrown 63% of Nigerians into multidimensional poverty. Haven’t they grown fat over the sweat of Nigerians? They have been thrown into multidimensional wealth. Who is she to arrest people for telling her to have eaten the riches of the poor?

“If she is this powerful, why wouldn’t she use her power to rescue Nigerians in captivity? A number of girls taken away from Federal Government College Yawuri over a year now. You throw people into poverty. Nigerians aren’t secure. Yet you use your little nonsensical power to arrest somebody.

“You should have told your husband not to be contesting. You voted for the abysmal failure that’s Nigerian President and yet you’re saying people shouldn’t talk. You oppress people because you have the power. But I don’t blame, I blame Nigerians,” Yesufu lashed out at the First Lady.

The DSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, had yet to respond to texts and call put across to his phone line by our correspondent as of the time of filing this report.

Honour Your Words, Free Nnamdi Kanu – HURIWA Tells Buhari

Have Mercy On Nnamdi Kanu, Ohanaeze Begs Buhari

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA has told President Muhammadu Buhari to free Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

The Civil rights advocacy group’s National Coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, in a statement on Sunday, challenged the President to be a man of his word by leaving the judiciary to decide on Kanu’s fate without any political interference or vendetta.

The group asked Buhari to direct the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami to comply with the Appellate Court’s judgment freeing Kanu for the Department of State Services to release the IPOB leader before Christmas.

They noted that the major presidential candidates for the 2023 general elections including Labour Party’s Peter Obi, Bola Tinubu of the All-Progressives Congress, and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, had all opined that they will explore dialogue to end secessionist agitations in the South-East and restore the economy of the Igbo people.

Onwubiko, therefore, called on the President, to free Kanu, as part of ways to make amends, and as a Christmas gift, and a parting gift to Nigerians and generations unborn. He added that at a meeting with Ebonyi State Stakeholders’ Forum held at the Government House in Abakaliki in May, Buhari had said a political solution to Kanu’s travails was impossible and insisted that only the court will decide his fate, noting that 18 months after his arrest, the administration had failed to free Kanu, despite the decision of the Appeal Court.

Part of the statement reads “As though a norm, all the major presidential candidates for the 2023 presidential election have adopted negotiated settlement to end agitations by IPOB and other secessionist groups like that of Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho.

“This is a clear signal to President Muhammadu Buhari that he has got it all wrong seven years ago since he opted for only military methodology and extraordinary rendition of Nnamdi Kanu and lastly refusal to comply with Appeal court’s decision freeing Nnamdi Kanu. The President should honour his words and order Malami to heed the Appeal Court’s verdict for Kanu’s release. Anything aside from this shows that Buhari and his regime have no respect for the rule of law, and this is not surprising based on his antecedent as a military general.

This is the most auspicious time for Buhari to make amends and release Nnamdi Kanu immediately, as his Christmas gift and one of his government’s major parting gifts to Nigerians and generations unborn because of the potential that the release of Nnamdi will restore peace and stability to South-East of Nigeria and restore economic growth of the region.”
