The Assistant Inspector General of Police AIG Zone 9, AIG Isaac Akimoyede on Thursday decorated the 11 newly promoted Deputy Superintendents of Police who are now Superintendents.
He also charged the officers to be of good conduct and ensure they respect code of policing and maintain good relationships with their communities.
At the decoration which took place at the Zone 9 Headquarters police headquarters in Umuahia Abia State, the AIG urged the officers and men of the Zonal Command to shun all acts of extortion and maintain utmost professionalism in the discharge of their functions.
He said the promotion of the officers is based on merit, urging them to continue being outstanding in discharge of their functions.
He said, “this promotion as you have known is purely on merit, it is a reminder to us that when we do well on our jobs, definitely we will be considered for promotion.
“And you know when you are promoted you have different responsibility and you have more responsibility because it is said to whom much is given much is expected.
“So this your promotion is for you to come out boldly to be able to express yourself, to be able to let people know the stuff you are made off and to do your job with the fear of God and the milk of human kindness.
“Like I have always advised whatever you are doing always have God in your mind, the interaction you are having with people make sure it’s an interaction that will make an impact in the lives of those people and in your own life too, so I want to also congratulate you once again on this promotion I wish you many more.”
He also appealed to those who have not been prompted to be patient and committed, saying their own time will come.
One of the newly promoted Superintendents, Emmanuel Agu on behalf of his colleagues thanked the AIG and IGP Usman Alkali Baba for the gesture and pledged to do more in ensuring that they carry out their duties effectively.
