The White House has confirmed that no American citizens were murdered when terrorists stormed a convoy carrying the US Embassy in Nigeria on Tuesday, killing four people.

Two US consulate employees and two police officers were among those killed.

The attack occurred in the Amiyi/Eke Ochuche towns of Anambra state’s Ogbaru Local Government Area.

“No US citizens were involved and therefore there were no US citizens hurt.”

“We are aware of some casualties, perhaps even some killed,” John Kirby of the US National Security Council said.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, spokesperson for the Anambra Police Command, further disclosed that the gunmen “made away with two police operatives and the driver of the second vehicle in the convoy.”

Ikenga said that joint security personnel “have embarked on a rescue and recovery operation in the area.”
