Three people are thought dead in Ebonyi after the governor’s motorcade allegedly collided with a moving motorcycle, injuring other pedestrians.

The event occurred on Tuesday afternoon near the recently opened Muhammadu Buhari International Airport in Onueke.

The governor was not in the convoy when the tragedy occurred.

According to reports, the victims were from the state’s Ezza South LGA.

According to a source, the tragedy occurred immediately after the launching of a flyover named after Prince Arthur Eze at Abaomege in Onicha LGA.

“The flyover was commissioned by the governor, together with Prince Arthur Eze. But after the governor immediately left for Abuja, the accident happened,” a source said.

The deputy governor, Eric Kelechi Igwe, was claimed to have ordered that the victims be rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The victims’ motorcycle and the Toyota Sienna involved in the accident were both reported to be irreparably destroyed.

When asked to comment on the incident, Uche Chukwura, sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ebonyi state, said she had not yet been briefed.
