Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia federal constituency of Abia State, Hon. Obi Aguocha has advised President Bola Tinubu not to be held hostage like his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari but to release the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu.

Aguocha in a chat with ABN TV on Saturday described Kanu as a political prisoner, urging Tinubu to release him immediately.

The lawmaker accused Buhari of having a personal hatred and vendetta against the Igbos, urging Tinubu not to toe this path.

Despite several court orders for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, former President Buhari denied the IPOB leader bail.

He said while the court process is ongoing, he is hopeful that Nnamdi Kanu’s release will end up in a political resolution.

ABN TV recalls that Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court Abuja had recently denied bail to the leader of the proscribed IPOB.

The court, however, ordered an accelerated hearing of the case involving the embattled IPOB leader who is facing charges bordering on treasonable felony.

“All the crimes and criminality, banditry and kidnapping that are happening in the South East is because of the detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

“A lot of people are using his name to commit all these crimes and criminality. The peace in South East or the peace in Nigeria cannot go anywhere without the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu”, Aguocha told ABN TV earlier.

Aguocha who represents Nnamdi Kanu at the House of Representatives therefore expressed optimism that in no distant time, his constituent will walk out of detention a free man, insisting that he has not committed any crime that would warrant his incarceration.
