Chief Whip of the Senate, Dr. Orji Kalu has returned to Abia State after he was on Tuesday presented with the certificate of return as an elected representative by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Abuja.

Sen. Kalu a former governor of Abia State was among the Senators-elect who emerged victorious on the Feb. 25 National Assembly which held alongside the presidential election.

Sen. Kalu, Chief Whip of the Senate had posted on his social media page how a jubilant crowd accosted him in Umuahia, the state capital amidst excitement.

The Abia North Senator assured the Abia residents that days of good governance will soon return but did not give details.

He said, “On my way home after collecting the certificate of return on behalf of Abia North Senatorial District I ran into my people at Isigate, Umuahia.

“I could feel the need and desire of the people for the return of good governance in Abia state. I encourage all Abians to keep faith in God and Keep Hope Alive.

“Thank you Ndi Abia. We can get it right and return to years of good governance. Keep Hope Alive.”

He has repeatedly said he will not campaign for the governorship candidate of his party in the state, High Chief Ikechi Emenike, accusing Emenike of not informing him of his intention to run for the number one office in Abia.

It is not clear if Sen. Kalu is backing his brother, Mascot Uzor Kalu who is also seeking to govern Abia ahead of governorship election coming up this Saturday.

Mascot is a member of the APP but Sen. Kalu has insisted that he is innocent of any anti-party accusation against him.
