The Brotherhood of the Cross and Star’s founder and administrator, Olumba-Olumba Obu, has criticized same-sex unions.

He claimed that those who support it are working against God’s commandment while posing as advocates of freedom of choice.

On Saturday in Calabar, during a meeting with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Cross River, Olumba-Olumba made the statement.

He praised the people, organizations, and groups who work to protect human rights and stated that advocacy should not be overdone.

The preacher pointed out that some features of freedom, like the option to marry anyone of any gender, go against God’s precepts.

“Most of the freedoms proclaimed today are deeply rooted in falsehood and there is no truth in them,” Olumba-Olumba said.

The religious leader continued by saying that in order to prevent the future perversion of communities and nations, same-sex marriage must be regulated.

He praised Nigerian journalists for acting as the conscience of their nation and urged them to constantly uphold the public interest.

“Such commendable works are pleasing to God and attract divine rewards in due course. You must rise in defense of what is true and just.”

The leader of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star claimed that the world requires more journalists with moral courage to speak out against injustice.
