Suspected militants loyal to the Biafra Nations League, or BNL, have reportedly killed two escorts on an oil vessel near Cameroonian waters.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 4 a.m. in the Idabato subdivision of the Bakassi Peninsula, which is controlled by Cameroon.

According to witnesses, the militants also attacked a vessel that was not moving and whose origin was unknown.

“They attempted to set fire to the vessel,” said another source.

He claimed the militants fled before Cameroonian forces arrived.

In a statement, BNL leader Princewill Richards declared a halt to oil-taking vessels in the eastern end of the Gulf of Guinea.

He warned that the oil vessels endanger their lives.
