A political pressure group known as OUR TEAM 1999–2023, comprising former political office holders, bureaucrats and technocrats who served under previous administrations in Abia State, has reaffirmed its support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 while calling for unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State ahead of the governorship primary election.
The position was contained in a communiqué issued after an online meeting of the Technical Committee of the group held on Monday, May 4, 2026.
According to the communiqué, the group consists of politicians, technocrats and public office holders who served under the administrations of former governors Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Theodore Ahamefule Orji, and Ambassador Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu between 1999 and 2023.
The communiqué noted that the Technical Committee, headed by Professor A.C.B Agbazuere, was specifically constituted to mobilize support for President Tinubu’s second term bid and also monitor political developments in Abia State with a view to advising the leadership of the group appropriately.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment to President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and stressed the need for all stakeholders within the APC to work together to ensure overwhelming victory for the President in the 2027 general elections.
The group also emphasized the importance of conducting a free, fair and credible governorship primary election in Abia State, insisting that the process must be transparent and acceptable to the majority of party members.
Raising concern over growing tensions within the APC in the state, the committee condemned what it described as unnecessary internal attacks and hostile exchanges among party leaders, warning that such developments could weaken the party’s chances in future elections.
The communiqué urged leaders allegedly involved in the ongoing political disagreements to immediately end all forms of hostility and avoid actions capable of causing division within the party.
It further called on political actors to direct their media aides and supporters to cease attacks and inflammatory comments in the interest of party unity and stability in the state.
The committee maintained that mutual respect, appreciation of good relationships, and the understanding that power ultimately comes from God should guide political leaders in navigating the state’s political landscape.
The communiqué was jointly signed by Professor A.C.B Agbazuere, Chairman of the Technical Committee; Chief Eze Chikamnayo, Esq., Director of Media and Publicity; and Sir Don Ubani, KSC, JP, Secretary.
