Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, has expressed deep gratitude to the people of Abia North and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) following his emergence as the party’s candidate for the 2027 senatorial election.

In a message of appreciation released after his victory at the APC senatorial primary election, the former Senate Chief Whip thanked God for His grace and appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the national leadership of the APC, party stakeholders, members of the OUK Movement and Reality Organisation, as well as supporters across Abia State for their continued loyalty and confidence in his leadership.

Kalu also extended special appreciation to the people of Arochukwu, Ohafia, Bende, Isuikwuato and Umunneochi Local Government Areas for their unwavering support over the years.

“I remain deeply humbled by the confidence reposed in me once again by our great party as its candidate for the 2027 Abia North Senatorial election,” Kalu stated.

Reflecting on his years in the Senate, the former Abia State governor said his administration in the National Assembly has focused on giving Abia North a stronger voice while attracting meaningful development projects to communities across the district.

According to him, he has sponsored over 20 bills in the Senate, including bills on education, security, electoral reforms, taxation, environmental regulation, transportation and constitutional amendments aimed at deepening decentralisation and economic growth in Nigeria.

He noted that beyond lawmaking, his representation has also concentrated heavily on infrastructure and human capital development.

Kalu disclosed that through strategic partnerships and effective representation, over 70 road projects have been attracted across the five local government areas of Abia North Senatorial District.

He further highlighted interventions in the healthcare sector through free medical services under the National Health Insurance Scheme targeting women, elderly citizens and vulnerable groups.

He added that thousands of women and youths have equally benefited from empowerment programmes involving the distribution of tools, equipment and support materials aimed at improving livelihoods and reducing unemployment.

Kalu further stated that interventions had also been carried out in communities affected by erosion and flooding across Abia North.

The senator reaffirmed his commitment to building a more prosperous and progressive Abia North, expressing optimism that greater development would be achieved with continued support from the people.

“Together, we will continue to build a more prosperous, united and progressive Abia North,” he stated.
