Nigeria’s insecurity issue, according to President Muhammadu Buhari, results from powerful nations determined to destroy Nigeria.

After touring the state to commission projects under Governor Ganduje’s administration, Buhari made the claim on Monday at a presidential lunch in Kano.

“One can clearly see how these foreign countries took on our weaker part of Nigeria, the Lake Chad, where we have crude oil riches and cause significant mayhem there with repeated attacks,” he said.

Buhari claimed that the history of the region near Lake Chad would have been different by now if Governor Zulum had not taken his responsibility seriously.

The President reminded that in 2015 when he assumed office, only four of Borno’s 17 local government areas were not in the hands of Boko Haram.

“And we know people are using the insurgents who are fraudulent to cause problems, but today most of these local governments [areas] are free,” he said.

The President continued by saying that people who harbored insecurities knew that Borno might be a wealthy state. You need your neighbors to survive, he said, so that’s why, as governor there, I traveled to Niger, Chad, and even Cameroon.

Besides congratulating Governor Ganduje on the infrastructure improvements in Kano State, Buhari also praised the governors of Lagos, Kaduna, Katsina, and Kogi states for their good work.

The president also asked the elite to work on young education, stating that it is a concern that they are undereducated.

In addition, President Buhari made light of the fact that he was imprisoned and had run for office, stating that among his many credentials were hardship and delight.
