Honorable Chibuike Jonas, a former Arochukwu local government chairman and 2023 governorship candidate, has welcomed a wave of high-profile defectors from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State.

In an exclusive interview with ABN TV on Wednesday, Hon. Jonas expressed his excitement about the recent influx of defectors, including former speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Orji, and his followers. He praised their decision to join the APC, stating that their arrival will significantly strengthen the party and boost its chances of success in the state.

Confident in the party’s prospects, Hon. Jonas declared that the APC is poised to reclaim Abia State, and the next governor will likely come from the party. He also extended an olive branch to the current Labour Party governor, suggesting that it’s not too late for him to return to the APC, where he belongs.

He expressed optimism about the APC’s prospects in the state, declaring that “the sky is the limit” when the governor and federal government are on the same page.

Additionally, Hon. Jonas praised the Federal House of Representative Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Ben Kalu, for his efforts in promoting unity and expanding the party.

This development signals a significant shift in the political landscape of Abia State, and it remains to be seen how these changes will impact the state’s future.
