The African Democratic Congress( ADC) House of Representatives candidate in the 2023 general election, Prince Obinna Nwosu has officially joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Abia State.

Nwosu ran for Ikwuano / Umuahia Federal Constituency in Abia state.

The defection took place on Wednesday at  Nkwoegwu ward, where Nwosu was issued an APC membership card by APC Umuahia North Party Chairman, Chief Ekwuruibe Iheanyi.

Nwosu, who was accompanied by his supporters, stated that his decision to join the APC was a personal one, aimed at supporting the government at both state and federal levels to ensure development and prosperity for the people.

He emphasized the need for unity and strength in the face of the country’s transition phase, urging youths to align with the APC to bring about empowerment, employment, and dividends of democracy to the people.

The Umuahia North party Treasurer, Hon. Onyebuchi Igodo, welcomed Nwosu, describing him as an asset to the party.

Igodo expressed excitement at the increasing number of people defecting to the APC, which he believes will lead to bigger and better things for the party.

Nwosu’s defection is seen as a significant development in Abia State politics, particularly in the southeast region, where there has been a growing trend of people joining the APC. He encouraged more youths to follow suit, emphasizing the need for the southeast to be well-represented in national politics.

Nwosu stated that he has not given any thought of contesting in 2027 election, focusing instead on how to make life better for the people of the state and country at large.

This defection is expected to have a significant impact on the political landscape of Abia State and the southeast region, as the APC continues to gain momentum in the area.
