Political stakeholders, community leaders, youths and supporters across the 13 wards of Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State have unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, while endorsing his bid for a third term in the National Assembly ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made during a declaration event held in Bende on Thursday, where constituents commended the Deputy Speaker for what they described as effective representation, inclusive leadership and impactful service delivery since assuming office in 2019.

The constituents praised Kalu’s legislative performance, empowerment programmes, infrastructural interventions and commitment to the welfare of the people, noting that his contributions have elevated the profile of Bende Federal Constituency at the national level.

According to them, the Deputy Speaker has consistently demonstrated accessibility, competence and dedication through people-oriented projects in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, road infrastructure and economic support initiatives across the constituency.

Speaking on behalf of Item Ward C, Mr. Orji Udeagha said the people of the ward remain firmly behind the Deputy Speaker and are ready to support him in any political direction he chooses.

“I came to deliver the message of the people of Item Ward C concerning our leader, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, that he has done exceptionally well. They are with him anywhere he goes and every single vote from Item is for him,” Udeagha stated.

Also speaking on behalf of Uzuakoli, Chief Ikenna Ariwodo described Kalu’s emergence as Deputy Speaker as a major source of pride and visibility for Bende people.

He noted that Kalu’s re-election would guarantee continuity in quality representation and sustained development across the constituency.

The constituents expressed optimism that the Deputy Speaker would attract even greater democratic dividends and strengthen the voice of Bende Federal Constituency in the National Assembly if re-elected.

In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu thanked the people for the confidence reposed in him and appreciated their unwavering support over the years.

The Deputy Speaker highlighted several of his legislative achievements, including key bills he sponsored, some of which have already been signed into law, alongside constituency projects executed across various wards.

Kalu also expressed satisfaction with the growing strength and acceptance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia State, noting that more people were now identifying with the party and aspiring for elective positions under its platform.

He further commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his leadership and commitment to national development through ongoing reforms.

I’m returning to the National Assembly so I can finish the good work I started. I am going back to support the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, a man who genuinely loves Nigeria,” Kalu said.

The President is coming with more reforms in his second tenure, and those of us who understand his philosophy and desire to build a lasting legacy will continue to stand by him. If you allow me to return to the House, you will see even more development in Bende. I will do more for our people,” he added.
