Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the Abia State Chairman of the Labour Party, Peter Azubuike, says the party is not threatened by opposition political parties in the state.
Speaking during an exclusive interview on ABN TV’s Political Perspective, Azubuike maintained that the Labour Party remains focused on governance and grassroots mobilization rather than political distractions.
According to him, the opposition parties in the state are struggling with internal conflicts and lack the cohesion needed to challenge the Labour Party in Abia.

He stated that the party’s major objective remains delivering Governor Alex Chioma Otti for a second term and ensuring victory for Labour Party candidates in future elections.
Azubuike argued that the governor currently enjoys unprecedented grassroots acceptance across the state due to his administration’s performance in office.
He further noted that, unlike the 2023 elections when the Labour Party contested as an opposition party, the party is now more organized, experienced, and better positioned to prepare for future elections.
The chairman expressed confidence that the Labour Party would emerge stronger going into 2027, stressing that the party has recovered from previous internal challenges and is now fully settled.
