Abia: Mortuary Only Functional Section In ABSUTH Under PDP — APGA Chair, Ehiemere

The chairman of APGA in Abia State, Rev. Augustine Ehiemere has berated the PDP-led government in Abia State, accusing it of insensitivity and supervising the collapse of the state, ABN TV reports.

Ehiemere spoke on Tuesday in Umuahia at the free medical and surgical scheme organised by Prof. Gregory Ibe, the governorship candidate of APGA in the state.

He said the loss of accreditation by the Abia State University Teaching Hospital is something to worry about, calling for intervention so that the school will not be hindered from producing medical graduates.

He also said only the mortuary section of the hospital is functioning as a result of neglect by the PDP-led government in the state.

“It is very sad to note that under the very watch of PDP-led Government, the only functional section in ABSUTH now is the mortuary due to lack of attention occasioned by protracted strike by doctors and other staff who have not received their salaries for over two years.

“Health Centres and General Hospitals across the 17 LGAs lack the basic drugs and equipment. There is a total neglect of the vital health sector just like other sectors have equally been abandoned by this Government.

“The resultant effect of all these is avoidable deaths of hapless Abians who cannot afford medi-care elsewhere. But for the presence of private health facilities which most often offer their services at throat-cutting prices, patients would have been dying like fowls in Abia as Government has played aloof,” he said.

Rev. Ehiemere therefore applauded Prof. Ibe for intervening with his free medical outreach for the people of the state.
