The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially disowned a controversial publication circulating online that purportedly criticized Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s recent visit to Governor Alex Otti.
In a swift reaction, the Abia North Zonal Publicity Secretary of the party, Hon. Chief Alaezi Onyekwere John, described the statement—purportedly issued by an unnamed “Publicity Secretary” of the APC—as misleading, unauthorised, and lacking credibility.
“The individual behind this write-up is unknown to the party in any official capacity and is certainly not recognised as the Publicity Secretary,” Chief Onyekwere stated. “We challenge him to substantiate his claims of holding such an office.”
Chief Onyekwere stressed that the content of the controversial statement does not represent the official position of the party leadership or its members.
“The write-up reeks of personal vendetta, lacks internal consultation, and is a clear misrepresentation of our party’s position. Senator Orji Uzor Kalu remains a respected leader of our party, with the constitutional right to engage with any administration in the spirit of development, peace, and constructive governance,” the statement affirmed.
According to the APC Zonal Publicity Secretary, commending good governance, regardless of party affiliations, is an act of statesmanship—not betrayal.
“We caution individuals seeking relevance through divisive and unauthorised publications to desist from such practices,” Chief Onyekwere warned, adding that “the Abia APC is focused on unity, rebuilding, and playing a credible role as an opposition party—not on petty attacks and political mischief.”
The leadership of the APC in Abia concluded by urging the public to disregard the said write-up and treat it as a personal opinion with no authority to speak on behalf of the party.
“In conclusion, the write-up in question lacks credibility, authority, and substance. It should be disregarded by the public and treated as the personal opinion of someone who neither speaks for nor represents the Abia State chapter of our great party,” the statement read.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s recent visit to Governor Alex Otti was widely regarded as a gesture of political maturity and cross-party statesmanship, aimed at fostering unity and encouraging development in the state.
