The Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State has concluded its governorship primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections, with Dr. Kelechi Anosike emerging as the party’s candidate.
Announcing the results in Umuahia, Elder Abraham Amah said Anosike secured 16,543 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chief John Okiyi Kalu, who polled 3,145 votes, while Barr. Olugu Kalu scored 961 votes.
Amah stated that all three aspirants were qualified for the contest but noted that delegates overwhelmingly gave their mandate to Anosike, officially returning him as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
