The full list of nominees for the 2025 BET Awards was unveiled on Thursday, highlighting the growing global presence of Nigerian Afrobeats stars, with Ayra Starr emerging as the most nominated Nigerian artist.
Ayra Starr earned three major nominations, including Best Female R&B/Pop Artiste, Best New Artiste, and Best International Act.
“It’s such an honour to be recognized on this global stage,” the singer said in response to the announcement.
Tems followed with two nominations in the BET Her category, acknowledged for her powerful, inspirational tracks “Burning” and “Hold On”.
Burna Boy, Rema, and Shallipopi also made the prestigious list. Burna Boy was nominated for Best Male Hip-Hop Artiste, while Rema landed a nod for Best International Act, and Shallipopi was recognized in the Best New International Act category.
American rap legend Kendrick Lamar leads the overall nominations with 10 nods, cementing his continued dominance in the hip-hop space.
He is closely followed by Drake, Future, Doechii, and GloRilla, who each garnered six nominations.
The winners will be announced during the live BET Awards ceremony on June 9, to be held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. The event will be broadcast on BET, celebrating achievements across music, film, and culture.
