All is now set for the burial of late Elder Mrs. Ogbonne Okwara who passed on at the age of 61.
Okwara who hails from the family of late Rev. C.I Okwara of Ndi Okwarauma compound in Ebem Ohafia Abia State died on October 24, 2021.
A burial arrangement released by her family says there will be service of songs/wake keep at late Rev. C.I Okwara’s compound on Thursday, June 9 at 6pm.
On Friday June 10, 2022 her body will leave Mben mortuary Ebem Ohafiady leaves Mben Mortuary Ebem Ohafia to Ndl Okwarauma Ebem Ohafia at 9am.
Her body will leave Ndi Okwarauma to The St. Peter’s PCN Ebem Oha Parish for funeral service after which interment will follow.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced officials for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers between Super Eagles of Nigeria and Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.
Ivorian, Ibrahim Kalilou Traore will take serve as the center referee and will be assisted by three of his compatriots.
Adou Desire N’goh, Nouhou Ouattara, and Kouassi Francois Biro will serve as assistant referee 1, assistant referee 2, and fourth official respectively.
Moukaila Nassam Adam from Ghana will be the match commissioner, while Serge Paulin Samuel from Burkina Faso will serve as referee assessor.
The Super Eagles will host the Leone Stars at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja on Thursday.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has disclosed that 11 children and 22 adults who were attacked by gunmen at St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo state are on admission to the emergency wards of the Federal Medical Centre, Owo.
Recall that gunmen on Sunday attacked St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, killing many worshippers and injuring several people.
According to a statement by Sadiya Umar Farouq, minister of humanitarian affairs, disaster management, and social development, officials of NEMA are at the hospital for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.
Farouq also directed the agency to immediately provide succor to the victims and families of the attack.
“Officials from NEMA, Ekiti Operation Office have arrived at the Federal Medical Center, Owo where the dead were taken to and the injured are being treated,” the statement reads.
“NEMA is already conducting an on-the-spot assessment of the victims and the casualties.
“Meanwhile, Mr. Kadiri Olarenwaju, Head NEMA Ekiti Operations Office, covering Ekiti, Ondo and Osun states has reported the admission of 22 adults and 11 children to the emergency wards at the Owo.”
The minister condemned the attack, describing the killings as “cold-blooded, evil and horrific”.
She commiserated with the families of the dead, the Catholic Church, the people, and the government of the state.
“This killing is horrific and mindless. The killing of many worshippers inside St Francis Catholic Church on a Sunday morning is condemnable,” she said.
“A lot of men, women, young girls and children had their lives snuffed out during a church service in Owo.
“I mourn with their families and state government as well as the church. We pray for the repose of their souls.”
The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA)says the Leone Stars are in high spirit as they get set to face the Super Eagles of Nigeria, in their first game of the 2023 AFCON qualifiers inside the MKO Abiola Stadium Abuja on Thursday.
Players and officials of the Leone Stars arrived in Nigeria from Conakry, Guinea, on Saturday where they had been camping.
The team had their first training session in Abuja on Sunday and would hope to get their campaign off to a positive start when they face the Eagles.
“Leone Stars had their first training, with all players present, in Abuja this evening (Sunday) as preparation for the AFCON 2023 Qualifiers matches against the Super Eagles of Nigeria continues.
“With 3 more days to match day, the boys continue to keep fit and highly spirited,” the SLFA wrote on Twitter.
Recall both teams met during the qualifiers for the 2021 AFCON with the Leone Stars coming from 4-0 down to draw 4-4 against the Eagles in Benin City.
And in the reverse fixture in Freetown, the two teams settled for a goalless draw and eventually qualified for the 2021 AFCON.
Meanwhile, the Eagles go into Thursday’s game on the back of two defeats against Mexico and Ecuador in doubleheader friendly games in the United States.
After suffering a 2-1 defeat to the Mexicans in Dallas, the Eagles succumbed to a 1-0 loss to Ecuador in New Jersey.
The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has blamed the inadequate supply of petrol from the depots in Lagos for the scarcity being experienced in Abuja and other parts of the country.
IPMAN President, Mr. Chinedu Okoronkwo, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos.
Okoronkwo spoke against the backdrop of resurfacing of fuel queues in some parts of the country, especially in Abuja.
He said that the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine had disrupted the smooth distribution of petrol, also known as, Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
According to him, marketers and transporters are now finding it difficult to bridge products to other parts of the country from the depots.
He said: “The huge amount spent in running the diesel trucks to transport fuel is very discouraging because we are running at a loss.
“The current N165 per litre pump price for PMS cannot fit into the present realities without the pricing template being reviewed.
“We appeal to the government to look into the situation by either reviewing the freight rate or providing palliatives to all marketers to restore normalcy to distribution.
“The palliative can be making diesel accessible for marketers at discounted rates so that we can easily transport products across the country.”
Okoronkwo commended the government for the bridging claims paid so far to marketers, adding that efforts should be made to clear the outstanding amounts.
General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi has commended players of the U17 Girls, Flamingos for their qualification for this year’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, following a 1-0 aggregate defeat of Ethiopia in the final round of the series.

Residents of Gwarinpa Estate along Abuja-Zuba Expressway were thrown into confusion and panic in the early hours of Monday, when suspected bandits stormed the estate and kidnapped some residents.

This attack is coming barely 24 hours after Nigerians were thrown into shock with the Sunday’s attack on St Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State, where scores of worshippers were killed.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has condemned the deafening silence of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over Sunday’s gruesome terrorist attack and killing of innocent worshippers at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State.
This, the PDP said confirms APC’s complicity and implicit support for terrorism in our country.
National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, said this in a statement, in Abuja, on Monday.
He said, “The PDP is also appalled by the lame and disconnected press statement by the Buhari Presidency which did not demonstrate any Presidential empathy, concern, assurances and commitment expected of a Commander in Chief, who should be a Comforter in Chief in the face of such horrific terrorist attack on the country.
“The feeble and insensitive statement by the Presidency is a further confirmation of the tacit sympathy for terrorism by the APC administration.
“This is because in saner climes the President would personally address the nation on the gruesome murder of many citizens under his care.
“President Muhammadu Buhari’s personal silence is deafening and points to allegations in the public space that terrorists are enjoying tacit accommodation from the highest level of the APC administration.
“It is indeed unpardonable that as terrorists were murdering our citizens in Owo, President Buhari was busy in the comfort, luxury and safety of the Presidential Villa, having a dinner with APC leaders and conducting political meetings aimed at perpetuating APC’s fraudulent, insensitive, inhumane and vicious government on hapless Nigerians.“
According to the statement such actions by the APC and President Buhari, who has woefully failed in his promise to lead the fight against terrorism from the front, continue to embolden terrorists to carry out more terrible attacks on our citizens.
It also noted that the inexcusable stance of the APC also lends credence to the fears already expressed by Nigerians that there are planned orchestration of crisis by the APC in various parts of the country so as to derail the scheduled 2023 general elections.
The opposition party further said, Nigerians will recall that the APC has never forcefully condemned terrorism attacks in Nigeria since the revelation that the APC imported outlaws from neighboring countries to assist it to rig the 2019 general elections.
“For the umpteenth time, our Party calls out the APC to come clean on the pact it has with terrorists for which it is sacrificing the lives of innocent Nigerians. “
The PDP warned the APC not to continue to use Nigerians as expendables in their ignoble pact with terrorists.
It described such an action as reprehensible, atrocious and must not be allowed to continue in our country.
The PDP however calls on Nigerians not to despair but remain united and at alert as our Party takes firm steps ahead of the 2023 general elections in the mission to Rescue and Rebuild our nation from the misrule of the APC. Indeed, hope is on the way as we count down to 2023.
A Russian missile attack on Kyiv on Sunday was likely an attempt to disrupt the supply of Western military equipment to frontline Ukrainian units, the UK’s Ministry of Defense said in its latest intelligence assessment on Monday.
One of the missiles was intercepted by Ukraine’s air defense unit, but the rest hit “infrastructure facilities in the north of the Ukrainian capital,” the General Staff of Ukraine’s armed forces said on Sunday.
Vadym Denysenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, said one military target was hit, and one civilian target.
Several of the missiles hit the Darnytsia Carriage Repair Plant, injuring one railway worker, according to Oleksandr Kamyshin, CEO of the Ukrainian state railway enterprise Ukrzaliznytsia.
But passenger trains were not delayed by the attacks, he said.
Kamyshin denied Russian reports that his company was housing military equipment, and invited journalists to verify that by visiting the plant.
The UK Ministry of Defense also said that heavy fighting continues in the eastern city of Severodonetsk and that Russian forces continue to push towards the eastern Ukrainian city of Sloviansk in the Donetsk region.
Russian forces have likely moved multiple air defense assets to Snake Island in the Black Sea, including SA-15 and SA-22 systems and it is likely that these weapons are intended to provide air defense for Russian naval vessels operating around Snake Island, the ministry said.
