Abia @31: Our State At Crossroads, Needs Right Leadership — Ogah
Dr Uche Ogah

The immediate past Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Uche Ogah has congratulated Abians at the 31st anniversary of the state.

In a congratulatory message on Saturday, Ogah a factional governorship candidate of APC in the state noted that time has come for the installation of the right leadership “based on solid antecedents and proactive proclivities to realign our state and her people with the sure foundation laid for us by our founding fathers such that Abia State must be better and beneficial to all her citizens.”

While expressing gratitude to God for the 31st anniversary Ogah said it’s important to advance and count gains the state has made since it was founded by its founding fathers.

He said, “Abia State is prophetic. This is the only state in the comity of states within Nigeria that is squarely placed in the hands of God, with access to divine assistance but poor kineticism towards achieving our potential and activating the markers of greatness in all sectors of the state’s economy.”

He added, “I offer my felicitations to the great people of Abia State and ask your collaboration so together we will continually uphold our dear State in prayers and commend her into God’s hands and eternal blessings.”

Part of the statement read; “The incessant, illegal and unwarranted use of Police Uniforms restricted to bonafide serving officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

“This is coming on the heels of the suspension of two Supernumerary Police Officers, with immediate effect, for breach of the provisions of the Police Act, 2020.

“The Nigeria Police Guidelines for Recruitment/Promotion/Discipline of Supernumerary Police (SPY) 2013 by the Inspector-General of Police, as captured in a video posted by one of the officers in a viral video on August 3rd, 2022.”

Ebuka reportedly left her residence in Victoria Island on Thursday to deliver a wig cap to her Aunty’s friend in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.

The Bauchi Police Command on Friday alerted the public to locate the girl in its custody.

In a statement via its Twitter platform, the police command said, “The bearer Mildred Joshua Ebuka female aged 17yrs-old of Block 19 Ubandale street Victoria Island Lagos State, whose photograph appeared below left home on Thursday 25/08/2022 to deliver a message of a wig cap to her aunty’s friend in Ikorodu, on the way she stopped a taxi bus not far from her home, from thereon she found herself in Bauchi.

“She hails from Lagos and speaks English Language fluently. Wore light blue blouse shirt and trouser, fair in complexion and she has no tribal mark.”

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ahmed Wakil, on Friday said that Mildred was found in a park in Bauchi.

Wakil said, “The essence of sharing the information is to find her parent. She could not remember anything when she arrived Bauchi. A lady woke her up in the park, and she did not know where she was.

“So, they contacted the police, and our public relations office called my attention to it. That was why I made it public.”

2023: We’ve No Deal With Atiku — Obi-Datti Campaign

Datti Baba-Ahmed Equally Qualified For Presidency As Peter Obi — LP Secretary

The media office of the Obi-Datti 2023 Presidential campaign has debunked speculations that the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has entered into a ‘political deal’ to support the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar.

The campaign office in a statement in Abuja, on Saturday, described the speculations as the handiwork of charitable propagandists who indulge in distorting facts in the pursuit of imaginary relevance for their paymasters.

The statement read in part, “Rather than strive to contend with the hard sell of their candidates, these mischief makers bandy about misleading accounts of the issue-based messages of our candidates just to score cheap political points and thus distract the discerning public.

“While we understand the frustration of dealing in their hard-to-sell, “expired milk” [apologies to BAT] in a competitive market, the FairPlay rule demands that you don’t associate the good with the bad product. We demand honour even among thieves!

“We know the intention of the spin-doctors in selling an utterly false story that the highflying Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, met with his PDP counterpart and reached a deal. Nothing can be further from the truth.”

It further said, “Obi’s foreign trip, its motive, and where and who to meet are already in the public domain; his meeting in the UK with some Nigerian political leaders is visually seen by all.

“But mischievous propagandists prefer to concoct lies in a desperate effort to clean up their candidate.

“We understand why the focus is on the Obi-Datti candidacy; they are easily the front runners in this 2023 race and the tag team has irresistible messages that are resonating with the embattled Nigerian public who are anxious more than ever to reclaim and take back their country.

“The LP candidates are on a divine mission to rescue and rebuild this country and cannot be distracted by any fabrications intended to mislead.

“ If Obi’s mission is to rescue Nigeria from the old order, he ought not be seen working for the changing order.“

The media office noted that stories around the issue expose the writers as having exhausted themselves even before the start of the electioneering campaign and now resort to manufacturing supporters.

It argued that the same people who said that Obi is a social media phantom wave without political structure to win an election are today struggling to ‘photoshop’ the same Obi with their candidate.

The media office equally said, “Obi’s respect for Atiku or any leader in this country has more to do with his sound upbringing and the fact that his style of politics is devoid of hate and bitterness and should not be misconstrued to be cavorting the spent order represented by the competition.

“These propagandists need to know that the movement Obi and Datti-Ahmed are driving is not something in control of one man negotiating it away.

“Nigerian people have taken the steering from Obi and are driving him to the Aso Rock Villa; they will not look sideways for distractions.

“Obi-Datti media office is privy to intelligence that many distorted stories will be dished to the public to create confusion in their minds of the public and notes that such a mission is dead on arrival because the people’s commitment to the Obidient assignment is total.”

Abia At 31: We've Delivered 150 Roads In 7 Years — Ikpeazu [VIDEO]
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu Broadcast

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has revealed that his administration has commenced and delivered no fewer than 150 roads in the past seven years since it came on board.

The governor also hinted that at the moment, about 48 road projects across the state are at their advance stages which he hopes will be completed before the end of the administration next year.

The governor who spoke in a state-wide broadcast as part of activities marking the 31st anniversary since the creation of the state noted that the projects executed by his administration will serve as monuments to the work his leadership did after the expiration of his tenure.

He said, “We have over 150 roads which our administration has commenced and delivered in the course of our tenure. We are strongly advancing work on another 48 roads and we have a target to finish them before we hand them over to the next administration by May 29, 2023.

“One aspect of these projects I am proud of is their strategic significance and economic importance. A project like the Osisioma Interchange has forever changed the trafficking narrative at that junction.

“Users of that road in recent years will recall how they were often condemned to spend hours in traffic due to the lockdown on the road at peak periods. Today, that episode is in the past as there is now a guaranteed seamless flow of traffic along the axis in addition to the aesthetic uplift of the general environment.

“The adjoining Aba Owerri Road which also hitherto used to be a nightmare has been rebuilt and expanded with relevant road furnishings installed.

“Roads abutting the Aba Owerri road have also been opened up to ventilate the city of Aba.

“We have a solid Abayi Umueze-ABSUTH road built with our signature rigid pavement technology that is a beauty. The perennial swamp along that axis leading to recurrent road failure has been decisively resolved. Kamalu , MCC and Eziukwu roads are all our signature projects. Down Okpu Umuobo road, we are completing and bringing back the old road that leads to Mgboko Obingwa LGA Secretariat from where motorists can join the new Obikabia – Obikabia Road and emerge at the Enugu – Port Harcourt Expressway.

“Our work in other areas of Aba are equally heartwarming for their strategic importance. Osusu, Imaculate, Milverton, Azikiwe, Ukaegbu, Ehere, Umuola, Ebenma, Egege, Opobo, Okigwe, Chima Nwafor Road and other roads we have built around the city are all of immeasurable importance to the continued economic vibrancy of Aba. We have advanced work on the Ngwa Road axis where we have constructed 6 internal roads so far. We are hard at work on Omuma, Obohia, Ohanku, Uratta and Port Harcourt roads which we will complete before we leave office.

“Today, for the first time in over 30 years, our major markets in Aba are now accessible by road. The Eziukwu Cemetery road leading to the popular Cemetery Market which had long been forgotten is now fully rebuilt and back to life and it is easy now to connect that market from Aba-Owerri road seamlessly. Same goes for the Ngwa Road Market and the Ariaria International Market.

“The Osokwa-Aro-Umueje road, Ururuka Road, Umuojima Road, Okpulu Umuobo – Mgboko Road, Agalaba Ring Road, Umuobiakwa Owo-Ahiafor Road, and the Obikabia-Obikabia Road signify our resolve to ventilate rural areas with access to our economic hubs and spread the expansion of our urban areas and reduce pressure on them while stemming rural-urban migration,” he said.

Before some people add salt and pepper to it, I need to state precisely what happened.

Senator Tokunbo Abiru and Dr Tunji Olowolafe and I had walked in about the same time, and we went to greet my very dear Sister, Senator Mrs Oluremi Tinubu.

“Immediately she saw me, we exchanged our usual pleasantries, and then she asked me, “so Bob Dee, you’re not going to campaign for my husband,” I smiled and remained very calm before replying: “Your Excellency, I’m in PDP.

She apparently didn’t find it funny and regaled us with the past I shared with her husband, and I tried to calm her down.”

2023: Why I Met With Obasanjo, Atiku, Tinubu, Peter Obi In London – Wike Opens Up

2023: Why I Met With Obasanjo, Atiku, Tinubu, Peter Obi In London – Wike Opens Up
Governor Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has explained why he met with Peoples Democratic Party presidential (PDP) candidate, Atiku Abubakar, All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, Mr Peter Obi, Labour Party presidential (LP) candidate and former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, in London.

Wike said he and his team met with the Nigerian leaders in London on Thursday to discuss how to make Nigeria better than what it is currently, adding that they are consulting widely with those who mean well for the country.

He spoke when he interacted with journalists at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa in Ikwerre Local Government Area, shortly after arrival from London on Friday.

Wike was in the company of the governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom and his Abia State counterpart, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

“I can confirm that this is the first time as a team that we are meeting with presidential candidates,” Wike said.

“We met with the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC and we met with our leader, former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo.

“We met the presidential candidate of the Labour Party. We also met with our presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. For whatever it is worth, consultation is ongoing.

“Whatever we’re talking about, is for the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians. It’s not parochial and tied to one person or group of persons.

“We believe that with what is going on, it will be for the interest of Nigerians at the end of the day.”

He added, “Consultation is still ongoing. Never mind some people who do not believe in the existence of this country.

“Leadership isn’t about you and your family. Leadership is about everybody. It is unfortunate that we are in a country now where a man finishes eight years as a governor and brings his own son as a governor too and as a member of the National Assembly.

“It is only in this part of the world that you can see that when we are talking about poverty everywhere. These are people who don’t mean well for Nigeria.”
