The Lead Pastor, World Deposit Family International, Pastor Paul Chibuisi, has said the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, is God’s choice for Nigeria.

The cleric, who celebrated his ordination and birthday on Sunday, in Umuahia, said, “Obi may not be the ordained spiritual leadership of the people, but there are credible evidence that he should be given the chance to govern Nigeria.”

The cause for Obi as president had been gathering momentum in Umuahia, as churches now preach for the peace of Nigeria through Obi in next year’s general elections.

Chibuisi further stated, “God will not be quiet to be brought into the matter, but considering that the North and the South-West have both produced the president of Nigeria, it is the turn of a man from the east and it should be given to Peter Obi.”

“Obi left a credible record throughout his governance in Anambra State. He is the one to govern Nigeria and God’s choice for the country.”

Speaking after the occasion where widows were empowered, Chibuisi said through the ministry, people would be touched in communities, hospitals, prisons, schools and less-privileged outreach programmes.

He noted that the world was at perilous times, stating that the numerous religious institutions in the world, particularly through Christianity is God’s plan to raise armies as light to fight darkness and sin.

“God poured out his spirit on the people, hence the many young people prophesying these days in churches,” he added.

Gov. Hope Uzodinma

The Imo state Government on Tuesday denied the news making rounds that the state governor, Hope Uzodiinma, was budgeting the sum of N10bn for the release of embattled suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.

The state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, told journalists in Owerri, the state capital that there was no truth in the news.

According to Emelumba, the news was a “lame, incoherent and illogical propaganda concocted by the lucifer-infested social media outfit of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party and former governor of the state to shoot down the popularity of the Governor.”

The Commissioner, who refused to name anybody as being behind the fake news, said, “The former Governor who is smarting from the backlash of his saboteur comments against Ndigbo wants to divert attention from his irredeemably damaged image with the fake Abba Kyari story.”

Emelumba said that the fake news was reminiscent of a story planted by the PDP people that Uzodimma wanted to rename Imo state University after the late Chief of staff to the president, Abba Kyari.

The commissioner said Uzodimma, whose administration was a product of the rule of law, could not have declared Abba Kyari innocent of the charges against him when that job belongs exclusively to the judiciary.

He said, “It is also ridiculous to impute that the governor was budgeting N10b for the release of Abba Kyari when everyone knows how prudent and accountable His Excellency is with the resources of the state.”

Osun State Election Petitions Tribunal has fixed October 13 for the hearing of all preliminary motions arising from the petition filed by All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Governor Gboyega Oyetola against Ademola Adeleke as the Governor-elect.

At the sitting of the Tribunal on Tuesday, Counsel for the petitioners, Lasun Sanusi (SAN), told the court that his response to the pre-hearing form had been filed and issues had been formulated for the Tribunal to determine.

He told the court that counsel for both petitioners and respondents had agreed on the time for examination, cross-examination, and re-examination of witnesses, to ensure that the hearing is not unnecessarily prolonged.

He said: “We have both agreed that examination of witnesses should take five minutes, cross-examination 10 minutes, and re-examination five minutes. For expert witnesses, examination for 15 minutes, cross-examination 20 minutes, and re-examination is five minutes”.

Counsels to INEC, Paul Ananaba (SAN), PDP, Alex Izinyon (SAN), and Adeleke, Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN) agreed to the scheduling of the hearing as listed by the petitioners’ counsel.

Respondents’ counsels one after the other also told the court that they had filed responses to the pre-hearing form served on them by the tribunal.

On the number of witnesses to be called, the petitioners’ counsel said he has more than enough quality witnesses and would be willing to forgo the calling of some of them as the case proceeds, with a view to saving the time of the tribunal.

Subsequently, counsel for the respondents informed the tribunal of his intention to move some preliminary applications which have just been filed, but the petitioners’ counsel said he should be allowed to respond to any application filed.

A Federal High Court in Umuahia, Abia State, is to deliver judgment in the extraordinary rendition suit filed by Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

VIDEO: Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor Urges Court To Address Issues Of Unlawful Expulsion, Torture, Others Against Nnamdi Kanu
Barr. Aloy Ejimakor

Aloy Ejimakor, Special Counsel to Kanu, had filed the suit before the court in March.

ABN TV reports that  Kanu is asking the court to redress his infamous unlawful expulsion or extraordinary rendition from Kenya by the  Federal Government.

Justice Evelyn Anyadike fixed the date for judgment, after the adoption of addresses by the counsel to the plaintiff and the defendant.

Counsel to the plaintiff, in the originating summons, described the suit as sui generis (of a special class).

He contended that the expulsion of extraordinary rendition of Kanu is a clear violation of his fundamental rights under Article 12(4) of the African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights, as well as Chapter IV of the Nigerian Constitution.

He asked the court to redress a myriad of violations that came with Kanu’s rendition, such as torture, unlawful detention, and denial of the right to a fair hearing as required by law before anybody can be expelled from one country to the other.

Ejimakor also sought to halt Kanu’s prosecution and restore him to the status quo before his rendition on June 19, 2021.

However, the counsel to the respondent, Mr Simon Eno of the Federal Ministry of Justice, urged the court to dismiss the suit.

Eno described the suit as an abuse of the court process, saying that the issues sought were already decided by Justice Benson Anya of the Abia State High Cout, in Jan. 19, 2022.

Ejimakor countered the defense counsel’s submission, saying that the court only decided that portion of the violation of Kanu’s fundamental rights that occurred in 2017.

He explained that when he made claims that bordered on rendition, the court declined jurisdiction.

Kanu’s counsel said that the court did so on grounds that rendition, being related to extradition, lied within the exclusive jurisdiction of the Federal High Court.

According to him, this is what informed his decision to initiate the suit before the Federal High Court.

Abia Central: Hope Dims For APC As INEC Shuns Atuma After Party Dropped Onuigbo In Unexplained Circumstances

The Federal High Court in Umuahia, on Tuesday, affirmed Hon. Emeka Atuma as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Abia Central senatorial ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Ruling on suit number: FHC/UM/CS/113/2022 filed by counsel to Honourable Sam Onuigbo, Barr.Emeka Obegolu, urging the court to declare Onuigbo as duly nominated party candidate for APC Abia Central senatorial seat.

The court presided over by Justice Evelyn Anyadike ruled that Onuigbo failed to present evidence that he is really the winner of the said primary.

The trial judge said that APC held Abia Central senatorial Primary on the 28th, and 29th May 2022, which did not produce any result.

She said that the party held another one on June 7th 2022, which produced Emeka Atuma as the real candidate for Abia Central senatorial seat, saying it will be wrong for Onuigbo to rely on inconclusive Primary for his case.

Speaking to newsmen at the premises of the Federal High Court after the ruling on Tuesday, counsel to APC, Barr.Vigius Nwankwo, said that Honourable Sam Onuigbo, member representing Umuahia/Ikwuano federal constituency in the National Assembly, based his case on forged documents, which cannot stand in law.

Reacting to the judgment that was in his favour, Honourable Emeka Atuma, said that there is no victor no vanquish in the matter, only victory for the party supremacy and called on Onuigbo to support the party to win Abia Central senatorial seat for APC in the next election.
