Klopp Accuses Arteta Of Influencing Referee’s Decision

Liverpool boss, Jurgen Klopp has accused Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta of influencing referee’s decisions after the Reds’ fall at the Emirates Stadium.

He specifically said the Spaniard pressured referee, Michael Oliver to issue unwarranted cards to Liverpool’s players during their 3-2 defeat to Arsenal.

Gabriel Martinelli (1) and Bukayo Saka were the scorers for Arsenal, while Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino pulled two for the visitors.

Klopp revealed he was unhappy with Arteta pressuring the referee into giving Joe Gomez a yellow card in the second half for time wasting.

“But Joe Gomez’s yellow card, a defender, a yellow card for this throw-in situation.

“In the first half, I don’t know how often and how long Arsenal was looking for an option in a throw-in yet nothing happened, and I’m fine with that.

“But Joey is there and Mikel is having a go at the ref and then he [Oliver] says, ‘okay, yellow card’ from a distance and you think, ‘yellow card, for that?’

“So again, nothing to do with the result, just these situations, they don’t help but you’re right, they’re useless conversations [with the referee]..”

Personal life

Klopp has been married twice. He was previously wedded to Sabine and they have a son, Marc (born 1988), who has played for a number of German clubs including FSV Frankfurt under-19s, KSV Klein-KarbenSV Darmstadt 98Borussia Dortmund II and the Kreisliga side VfL Kemminghausen 1925. On 5 December 2005, Klopp married social worker and children’s writer Ulla Sandrock.

They met at a pub during an Oktoberfest celebration that same year. She has a son, Dennis, from a previous marriage. On 10 February 2021, Klopp confirmed that his mother, Elisabeth, had died; he was unable to attend her funeral in Germany due to COVID-19 travel restrictions.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba

After reports of Russian missile attacks across Ukraine on Monday morning, Kyiv’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Twitter that Russian President Vladimir Putin “will not break Ukraine down.”

“Putin’s only tactic is terror on peaceful Ukrainian cities, but he will not break Ukraine down. This is also his response to all appeasers who want to talk with him about peace: Putin is a terrorist who talks with missiles,” Kuleba tweeted.

Some context: Amid multiple explosions in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities early Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia was trying to annihilate Ukraine.

At least five people were killed in the attacks on Kyiv. Regional authorities also reported missile and rocket attacks in Kharkiv, Lviv, Mykolaiv and Dnipropetrovsk Monday morning.

Arsenal Must Be Ruthless To Earn Win At Sporting—Arteta

Former Gunners skipper, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, has taken a swipe at Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, claiming he can’t handle ‘big players.

Aubameyang, who joined Chelsea during the summer transfer window, infamously fell out with Arteta while he played for the Gunners.

He spent four years in north London, scoring 92 goals in 163 games. This included just over two years with Arteta at the helm but his final few months at the club turned sour as the Spaniard stripped Aubameyang as captain due to several disciplinary issues.

The fall-out was irreconcilable and the Gunners terminated the forward’s contract in February, which saw him join Barcelona.

And reflecting on his Arsenal exit, Aubameyang took a swipe at Arteta’s management style.

“I remember they [Barcelona] first called my father,” Aubameyang told A Jewellers.

“We knew the coach, Xavi, then he called me and said there is an opportunity because you have those problems with Arsenal, but if you come you will help us a lot, so I said, ‘okay’.

“But to manage big characters or big players, he (Arteta) can’t deal with it.

“He (Arteta) needs some young players, they don’t say anything, they listen.”

Aubameyang only spent six months with Barcelona, netting 13 times in 24 games for the club.

Due to their well-publicized financial troubles, the Catalan giants were keen to move him on and with Chelsea desperate to add a striker, the 33-year-old moved to the Blues during the summer.

Aubameyang has started well for Graham Potter’s side, netting twice in four games so far, and will face the Gunners when they clash with the Blues on November 6.

Meanwhile, Arteta’s Arsenal is flying in the Premier League this season as they seat top in the league standings.

On Sunday they edged Liverpool 3-2 at the Emirates thanks to a brace from Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.

Zelensky Calls For Regime Change In Russia

Amid multiple explosions in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities early Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Russia was trying to annihilate Ukraine.

“This is the 229th day of the full-scale war. This is the 229th day they are trying to annihilate us and wipe us off the face of the earth. That’s it, in a nutshell,” Zelensky said on Telegram.

“They are trying to slaughter our people who are sleeping in their homes in Zaporizhzhia. They are trying to kill people who are on their way to work in Dnipro and Kyiv.

“All over Ukraine, the air raid sirens will not abate. Rockets continue to strike. Unfortunately, there are dead and wounded. I ask you: do not leave your shelters. Stay safe and take care of your families. Let’s hang in there and be strong.”

Some context: Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko confirmed that strikes hit the Shevchenkivskyi and Solomianskyi districts of the city and advised residents to take shelter. CNN’s teams on the ground have heard at least four explosions in the city on Monday morning.

NNPCL Uncovers 179 Oil Theft Incidents In One Week

Ex-militant leader, Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, and security officials have discovered 42 more perforations on the nation’s oil pipelines.

The tapping by crude oil bunkers seeking to divert the nation’s crude oil is uncovered in two states of Delta and Bayelsa

This brings the total tappings to 58.

The breakthrough came as bunkers, angry with the leader of the defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta, MEND, for exposing their unlawful business, in the past few weeks, have reportedly sent threatening messages to him and operatives of his security firm, Tanita Security Services Limited, TSSL.

TSSL, last Thursday, seized a vessel suspected to belong to an oil syndicate, which came to load crude oil from an undisclosed location in Delta State.

However, Tompolo, who spoke to reporters, yesterday, at Oporoza, the traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, dismissed the threat by the oil bunkers.

At the time the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, and the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, NNPCL, Mele Kyari, visited Delta State, last Friday, Tanita reported the discovery of 16 tapping points on the trans-Forcados pipeline, which NNPCL had clamped.

Tompolo said: “As of today (Sunday), we have discovered over 58 tapping points that oil bunkers have used in stealing crude oil from the nation’s pipelines in Delta and Bayelsa states.”

“In Delta, three major crude pipelines, including the trans-Escravos and Trans- Ramos lines have been tapped by oil bunkers.

“The tapping points that were traced on Friday were with the help of the security agencies, which was why inside the rain and everything, we could trace the lines.

“We are doing the work together with the security agents; we are only providing intelligence for the security to assist to do the work.

“Therefore, everybody, NNPCL, and security agencies are working together in a very good spirit.

“The military has helped us to discover and stop the people from doing illegal activities, so we are going to work together and we do not want to go into details. The stealing had been going on for over eight to nine years,” he said.

The mayor of Kyiv on Monday urged the city’s residents to remain in shelters following a suspected rocket or missile attack on the Ukrainian capital.

“The air raid alert, and therefore the threat, continues,” Mayor Vitali Klitschko wrote on Telegram.

“I appeal to all residents of the capital: stay in shelters during the alarm. If there is no urgent need, it is better not to go to the city today.”

Klitschko confirmed strikes hit the Shevchenkivskyi and Solomianskyi districts of Kyiv.

2023 Elections: Allow Police To Regulate Your Rallies – IGP Tells Politicians

How I Impacted Nigeria Police Force – Ex-IGP Baba
Ex IGP Usman Baba

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba-Alkali, has urged political parties and politicians to allow the police to regulate their campaigns for the 2023 general elections.

Baba-Alkali made the call on Sunday in Maiduguri while speaking to newsmen.

Baba-Alkali said the measure was to contain any possible breakdown of law and order.

“I want to beg the politicians and political parties to give us the opportunity to regulate their processions, rallies, and campaigns so that they don’t clash.

“The Commissioner of Police is not saying you must apply for a permit before you campaign or rally but for him to know so that he can provide security for the venue of the campaign or to tell you if another party is also campaigning, for you to adjust to another date.

“It’s a matter of regulating for the benefit of all, to avoid things getting out of control,” the IGP said.

While assuring the force committed to ensuring security for the election, the IGP said the use of pseudo-security agents by any politician or party would not be tolerated.

He reiterated the need for community policing for maximum results in containing criminals, adding that the 10,000 police earlier recruited by the force had been deployed to their various LGAs to enhance community policing.

“Right now we have another 10,000 recruits undergoing training that we hope to graduate before the election,” Baba-Alkali said.

He noted the role played by Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in line with community policing in Borno where they played a critical role in exposing insurgents in their communities to the authorities.

“The successes we achieved in fighting Boko-Haram couldn’t have been possible without injecting CJTF.

“The CJTF assisted greatly as they know who is who in the area and led security to flush them out. That is what we want to copy.

“Security is all about everybody playing his quota; what your next neighbour is doing must interest you,” the IGP said.

Baba-Alkali is in Borno for a two-day working visit where he inaugurated some police projects in Beneshiek and Maiduguri.

EPL: Talents – Lampard Names Young Players He’ll Play More Often
Frank Lampard

Everton manager, Frank Lampard has compared Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo to Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi following his side’s Premier League 2-1 defeat to the Red Devils on Sunday.

Lampard watched as Ronaldo scored his 700th club career goal against Everton at Goodison Park.

Ronaldo had been on 699 career goals in club football since September 15, but his 700 arrived against Everton as he scored Man United’s second on the night.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Lampard hailed Ronaldo as one of the greatest players that have graced the game, adding that he and Messi are both incredible players in football history.

According to him, the comparison between Ronaldo and Messi doesn’t matter because the pair are both unbelievable.

“He is one of the greatest players that has graced the game, ever, in an era when we have had himself and Lionel Messi,” Lampard said.

“The comparison between them doesn’t matter; they are both incredible players in football history.

“The numbers they have racked up, abnormal numbers that have become normal. When he was on 699, I wanted him to score in the Europa League [against Omonia] the other night, but it wasn’t to be.”

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has described former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as the best president Nigeria ever had.

Responding to the condolence visit on Friday by the former president over the demise of his elder brother, Alhaji Abubakar Bappa Duguri, the governor also described Jonathan as the most level-headed Nigerian president.

The governor noted that many were now struggling to become the next president of Nigeria, but no one could match Jonathan’s qualities, stressing that the former president gave Nigeria the best which would be difficult to equal by anyone.

Bala said, “You remain the best thing to have happened to this country called Nigeria. Your selfless service and sacrifice have made Nigeria greater than how you met it.

“You are part and parcel of us in Bauchi, but your position and achievements are beyond me, Bauchi State, or anybody. As somebody has said, you have carved a niche for yourself as a humane and simple leader.”

He also described Jonathan as a leader who lives very well, and peacefully lives with people, “For someone like me, I always look to cherish our relationship where I came to national limelight and prominence through your benevolence and act of Allah.”

Bala continued: “We hardly had anything in common even at the party level but because of nationality and patriotism placed in your heart and the need to create unity you made me come to national relevance and limelight.”

“With humility, through your office, we built over 10,000 millionaires in Nigeria, through your benevolence we have helped so many people, there are so many people who rose during your tenure.”

Governor Bala attributed the feat to the extension of the goodwill Jonathan had created across the board, adding, “You gave me trust and I will always remember that you did that without my input, without anyone talking to you on my behalf.”

Governor Bala Mohammed who appreciated the former president for the condolence maintained that the visit was a great honour done to him.

Earlier, while condoling the governor and his entire family over the death, Jonathan said, “It is a solemn assembly to pay condolence, but one would have loved to visit here to commission a project.

“We are mortals and must die one day. I am here to condole a younger brother who lost his elder brother. Nobody knows the date of death unlike when a woman is pregnant, and the expectant parents will guess the date of delivery.

“He has come, and Allah has called him back, there is nothing we can do about that only to pray for the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss”, he said.

The former President added, “The world is just a stage where we all came to play different parts. One thing though is that people leave when the ovation is loudest leaving behind things that will make people remember them.”

Jonathan, accompanied by Reverend John Kennedy Opara and Bawa Ishaku, sympathized with the family of the deceased, describing the loss as a huge one.

The delegation paid a similar visit to His Royal Highness, the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu at his palace where special prayers were offered.
