Tinubu Finally Names Kashim Shettima As Running Mate

Vice-Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Kashim Shettima, has said if elected in 2023, the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu-led government will end insurgency within six months and one year.

He said this during a townhall meeting between Tinubu and the business community in Lagos.

“Within six months and one year, my leader (Tinubu) will mobilise the leadership to end this madness,” he said.

Meanwhile, Presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said if elected in 2023, his administration will enlist more people in the armed forces, security services and the police as part of measures to tackle insecurity.

He said his administration will continue the fight against insecurity by redefining the country’s counterinsurgency doctrine and practice

“We shall enlist more people in the armed forces, security services and the police. Our forces will be given better tactical communications, mobility as well as improved aerial and ground surveillance capacity.

“Through these and other measures, we shall better identify, monitor, track, and defeat these evil groups where they are. They shall have no respite until they surrender or are utterly defeated,” he added.

In 2021, Tinubu’s speech calling for the recruitment of 50 million youths into the armed forces during his 69th birthday colloquial generated controversy.

However his spokesperson, Tunde Rahman, said it was an “accidental verbal mistake,” disclosing that the former Lagos state governor meant 50,000 youths recruitment into the security architecture of the country.

Alleged Certificate Forgery: Police Can’t Prosecute Tinubu Now — IGP

IGP Orders Deployment Of Additional Men In FCT Over Terror Attack Threats
IGP Usman Alkali Baba

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has no pending petition or criminal matters with the Police, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba Usman, has said.

This is contained in a counter affidavit filed at the Federal High Court in Abuja by Usman’s counsel, Mr. Wisdom Madaki.

Madaki also told the court that the former Lagos state governor had no pending petition and was not a suspect to the Nigeria Police, hence, could not be put on trial.

In the counter affidavit to a suit instituted by a Civil Group seeking an order of mandamus to compel the IGP to arrest and prosecute Tinubu for perjury and certificate forgery, the Police Chief maintained that Police have no power to prosecute Tinubu without any known offense committed.

He explained that the two petitions it had against Tinubu were on allegations that had been adjudicated upon by the Supreme Court in 2002 in a suit filed by the late human rights activist, Gani Fawehinmi.

According to the affidavit, since the alleged perjury and certificate forgery had been resolved by the apex court, there was no need for the police to reopen the matter.

The IGP said that the police did not need any court order to make arrests and prosecute since it derived its powers from the constitution and statutes.

He prayed the court to dismiss the suit brought against him and the Nigeria Police Force for want of merit and jurisdiction.

However, at Tuesday’s proceedings, counsel to the Civil group, Mr Eme Kalu Ekpu told Justice Inyang Edem Ekwo that the counter affidavit of police had just been served on him and that he needed time to peruse it and reply to it formally.

Ekpu asked Justice Ekwo to grant him a short adjournment to enable him react to the counter affidavit properly

In a brief ruling, Justice Ekwo granted the request and fixed January 19, 2023, for the hearing of the suit.

We’re Not Aware Of Extortion, MC Oluomo Replies Striking Lagos Drivers

0

The Chairman of Lagos State Parks and Garages Management, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, yesterday, urged aggrieved commercial bus drivers to channel their grievances to the appropriate quarters.

Commercial drivers in Lagos State, under the aegis of the Joint Drivers’ Welfare Association of Nigeria, JDWAN, on Monday, commenced a 7-day strike, after its meeting with the Lagos State government ended in a deadlock.

But MC Oluomo, who spoke through the Secretary of the Parks and Garages Management (Operations), Mr. Olayiwola Lemboye, said the agency has a conflict resolution mechanism to address the drivers’ grievances.

He said: “As we speak, we have not received any communication from anyone on the issue of extortion or harassment. They ought to have reported the matter to their branch chairmen or bring it to the state secretariat if branch chairmen are not forthcoming.

“The purported strike action has a political undertone. If not, how come they are coming under a name unknown to the law? The government recognises two bodies – the suspended National Union of Road Transport Union, NURTW, in Lagos State and the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN.

“The Joint Drivers’ Welfare Association of Nigeria, JDWAN, is not known. Despite that, the state government’s Liaison Officer to the Parks and Garages Management, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, has also waded into the matter and held a meeting with them. Instead of adhering to the agreement reached, they resorted to blackmailing the respected retired police officer.”

Abia Governorship: APC Chieftain Heads To Appeal Court, Seeks Invalidation Of Emenike’s, Ogah’s Candidacy

Unknown Gunmen Kill Two APC Members In Ebonyi

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Aspirant in Abia state, Chief Dan Eke, has approached the Appeal Court, Owerri Division, seeking the annulment of the primary election that produced both Chief Ikechi Emenike and Uche Ogah as factional governorship candidates of the party.

An Umuahia division of the Federal High Court on Oct. 7, dismissed the suit by Eke, who was an aspirant, challenging the outcomes of the parallel APC governorship primaries.

The trial judge, Justice Evelyn Anyadike held that Eke lacked the locus standi to sue, having not participated in the exercise.

Both Emenike and Ogah, a former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, emerged winners at two separate primary elections.

However, the party’s National Working Committee validated Emenike’s ticket obtained through an indirect mode of primary and forwarded his name to INEC.

Ogah, who emerged from a purported direct mode of primary, has since filed a suit also challenging Emenike’s candidacy.

Eke had alleged that both primaries were not conducted in compliance with Section 84(14) of the Electoral Act, the APC Constitution as well as the guidelines of the NWC for the May 26 primaries.

Meanwhile, his reliefs include that the Appeal Court should allow his appeal and also set aside the judgment of the trial judge.

He also urged the Court to consider and determine his suit on its merit.

He averred that the trial judge “erred in law” on six grounds, including denying him of the locus standi to sue and dismissing his suit without looking into its merit, amongst others.

Eke further averred that the decision by the trial judge that he did not participate in the APC primaries “occasioned a miscarriage of justice in the matter”.

His Counsel, Chief Obinna Nkume, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the filing of the processes for the appeal by all the parties had been concluded.

“We are therefore waiting for the Court to give us a date,” he said.

Hope Uzodinma’s Alliance With Malami Delaying Nnamdi Kanu’s Release — IPOB Alleges

Hope Uzodinma's Alliance With Malami Delaying Nnamdi Kanu’s Release — IPOB Alleges

The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB has accused the governor of Imo state, Sen. Hope Uzodinma of conniving with the Attorney General of the Federal Alhaji Abubakar Malami to delay the release of its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

In a press release on Tuesday by the group’s Media and Publicity Secretary Comrade Emma Powerful and made available to ABN TV, IPOB explained that the governor and the federal have no reason to continue to hold their leader in DSS detention facility.

“The global family and movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)under the command and leadership of the great leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU wish to alert Biafrans, friends of Biafra and lovers of freedom across the globe that Hope Uzodinma the Governor of Imo State is among those responsible for Malami and the fulani Cabal’s refusal to release our leader and prophet Mazi Nnamdi KANU from DSS custody after Appeal Court acquitted and discharged him.

“Hope Uzodinma was made Governor of Imo State by the Fulani Cabal in Aso Rock through the Supreme Court legal manouvering to heighten the insecurity and banditry in Imo State and the entire Eastern Region so they can blackmail IPOB. Everyone can attest that there is no other state in the South East with the level of insecurity and criminality as found in Orlu Provence of Imo State which is a border Provence between Imo and Anambra States.”

IPOB further said that “Hon. Emeka Ihedioha and his PDP insulted Ndigbo in Enugu State and his role towards the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and we are coming for him and Hope Uzodinma.

“Information reaching us indicated that Hope Uzodinma travels abroad every week to stash in foreign banks the money that he is making from insecurity in his state. We have credible information that this Imo State Vampire, Hope Uzodinma hand-picked his favorite slave for state Speaker of the house, and others as Members of Imo State House of Assembly who have voted millions of Naira as weekly security funds for him. This Vampire, Hope Uzodinma shares some of the security funds with those who made him Governor in Abuja, then travels abroad weekly to deposit the rest of this blood money in his foreign bank. The purported weekly trips of Hope Uzodima to Abuja was actually oversea trips.

“We are aware of the security meeting Hope Uzodinma and APC party held in Owerri yesterday against Mazi Nnamdi KANU and how he took the contract not to release Mazi Nnamdi KANU, the meeting will bring Hope Uzodinma down, he will come out and tell the public how Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release will cause security risk in the region, Hope Uzodinma your time is up, watch and see.

“The intelligence reports available to our authorities said that Hope Uzodinma advised the Federal Government not to release Mazi Nnamdi KANU so that he can continue making money from the insecurity he has created in Imo State. We want to assure the public that once our leader is released he will help to stop the criminality going on in all the troubled zones in Biafra, especially in Imo State.

“IPOB intelligence unit, the M.Branch uncovered the move by the Supreme Court Administrator of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma’s plan to declare a State of Emergency in Orsuihiteukwa and Orlu area to make money from the Federal Government and subsequently hand some of that area to fulani military who have been occupying our land.

“In the last Eastern Governors Forum meeting held on Sunday the 30th of October 2022, Hope Uzodinma did not attend and did not send any Representative. Being a Fulani mole to scuttle any effort to end insecurity in the East, he exempted himself because the issues of insecurity is the main agenda of the Fulani Government of Nigeria, and the meeting may end his money-making machine. He is making money from the blood of innocent Igbos. Shame on this vampire in our mist.

“People should ask Hope Uzodinma why is he afraid of Mazi Nnamdi KANU’s unconditional release from DSS custody.

“It is clear to all and sundry that once our leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU regains his freedom many sponsored criminalities going on in the East will stop because he is the man that ALL our people respect.

“Hope Uzodinma advised Malami and his APC co-conspirators that our leader, Mazi Nnamdi KANU is a security risk and that they must attach conditions to his release. Therefore, Malami and his collaborators have handed a judgement script to the Supreme Court Justices of Nigeria, but we remind Supreme Court Justices of Nigeria that they are the last hope of the common man and should ensure that both local and international laws are upheld in the case of extraordinary rendition of our Leader Mazi Nnamdi KANU.

“In a similar vein, we condemn the decision to form another Security Outfit by South East Governors. We warned these Governors concerning forming a counter-security outfit instead of supporting ESN formed by Mazi Kanu and IPOB. They went ahead and formed Ebubeagu militias that later turned themselves into the killer squad of our people. IPOB has warned them to disband Ebubeagu militia but they refused. In the end, Ebubeagu militia was hijacked by the Vampire, Hope Uzodima, and his Fulani Cabal slave masters and was used to kill our youths in their numbers and destroy our people’s properties. What is the benefit of forming another Ebubeagu in disguise after the previous one has been hijacked? When will these Eastern Governors learn to protect their people instead of being moles for the Fulani cabal? And when will these moles in Biafra land stop acting selfishly and consider the lives of our people?

“It doesn’t matter how many security outfits Abuja will help them form against our people, IPOB and ESN is here to protect and defend our people and our land.

“It doesn’t matter what the Vampire Hope Uzodima does behind the scenes, Mazi Nnamdi KANU will be released and BIAFRA MUST COME.”

He said “I thank God in Heaven, for giving to us, Sen. Orji Kalu, the founder of the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation. In 2020, I was doing well with the money my parents raised for me from the sales of land to start a business. I was doing well in my business of selling building materials in Aba. Not until my father got sick and the doctor said it was prostrate cancer and that it was not diagnosed early enough.

“We started treatment to see how my father can survive. In 2021, the doctor recommended that we should take him for chemotherapy in UTH Ibadan. We did all the doctors told us to do but to the glory of God, my Father was unable to make it, he died after some sequence of chemotherapy, may his Soul Rest In Peace.

“My business became unstable. I was not meeting up with those people that gave me goods. I started owing depth even before I could lay my father to rest. At the end of his burial, things were not the same again. I sold the goods left in my store to pay off those that gave me goods and because of my delays, they were reluctant to give me more goods.

“I needed capital to start all over again. I was told that Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation use to give loans, but I did not believe it, not until my mother told me to give it a try. As for me, I did not know where to start from, my mother told me a friend of her’s said I should look for one Rev. Jemaimah Ola.

“Rev Jemaimah who is the Foundation Secretary, gave me listening ears, after much effort to reach her, due to her busy schedule. As a woman of God, she told me that I should pray to God. That I should apply, so I applied just like others did”.

Mba went on to say that he graduated in 2018, and as there was no job, his parents asked him to learn a trade he also expressed surprise at the assistance he got from Orji Kalu.

He said “I graduated from the Federal University Of Technology Akure, in 2018. There was no job so my father advised me to learn a trade. In all my life, I have not seen a man like Orji Kalu, he gave me loans when I had lost hope, and made me successful again in my business.

“I was in the house when I got the call, I was told that I am among those listed to be given a loan by Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation. I could not believe my eyes, how was that possible? then I knew that God is still alive! That was how I got a loan of three million naira (#3,000,000.00), to use it and build my business.

“Am telling my story today with thanksgiving to God for giving to our generation a man like Orji Uzor Kalu. I don’t know him and have not even seen him in person, yet am enjoying his good gesture in my business.

“I am very stable now and as my business is growing, so will Orji Kalu grow in all his wishes. Orji Kalu should be well assured that my entire family, those that experienced what I went through and how he stepped in, and myself, are in total support of him in the coming elections.

“Even though am here in Aba, on the day of the elections, please, send my message to him that I’ll mobilize my people to return home and vote for him, our PVC is registered in Ohafia, That’s the best way I can show my gratitude for his kindness and the good work he has been doing in people’s life.” He added.

Alleged Bank Fraud: EFCC Arrests Kogi Assembly Candidate With $610,500 Cash In Abuja

0

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the Kogi State House of Assembly candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Ismaila Atumeyi, with N326 million and $140,500 cash.

Atumeyi who is seeking to represent Ankpa 11 Constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly was arrested on Sunday, October 30, 2022, alongside one Joshua Dominic, an alleged serial fraudster, in a sting operation at Macedonia Street, Queens Estate, Karsana, Gwarinpa, Abuja.

Also arrested in connection with the fraud is Abdumalik Femi, a former bank employee, who allegedly supplied the inside information that facilitated the attack on the bank by the syndicate.

The EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed to our correspondent that Femi was picked up today (Tuesday), November 1, 2022 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Lagos.

“Following his arrest, a search was conducted on his home in Morgan Estate, Ojodu where a total of $470,000 USD was recovered.

“The arrest of the suspects followed months of investigation into the hacking of one of the commercial banks by a syndicate of fraudsters who pulled off a heist of N1.4billion,” he said.

The syndicate allegedly moved N887 million into the account of Fav Oil and Gas limited, from where the monies were paid to several Bureau de Change operators and some auto dealers for exchange into United States dollars and purchase of high-end cars.

Dominic, who has severally been arrested for fraud, allegedly helped Atumeyi perfect the hacking plan through Abdumalik. Dominic, a self-styled investment expert and Managing Director of Brisk Capital Limited was arrested in May 2021 by the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police for alleged N2 billion investment scam. He allegedly defrauded over 500 persons in a phony investment scheme.

Two Range Rover Luxury SUVs were also recovered from the two suspects arrested in Abuja.

Uwujaren noted that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as the investigation was concluded.

Meanwhile, the commission expresses concern about the rising spate of cyber-attacks on banks and the reluctance of the institutions to report such breaches to law enforcement.

While warning that such reticence would only embolden the criminals, the EFCC appeals to financial institutions to collaborate with it to secure the financial sector from threats of cyber-attacks.

The EFCC had in the wake of the recent announcement by the Central Bank Nigeria of plans to redesign and re-issue higher denominations of the naira, warned Bureau de Change operators to be wary of currency hoarders who would attempt to seize the opportunity to offload the currencies they had illegally stashed away.
