Former National Chairman of African Democratic Congress, ADC, Ralph Nwosu, has dismissed claims of division within the party, insisting that the party remained united and focussed on the 2027 general elections.
According to him, “there is no faction in ADC. What you are seeing are efforts by powerful interests to throw mud at a party that Nigerians now see as a credible alternative. ADC is progressing and doing very well.”
Nwosu said the turnout of supporters across several states showed growing public confidence in the party, ahead of the next election cycle.
“We had massive crowds across Nigeria. From Lagos to Ogun, Anambra and Sokoto, Nigerians are showing where the direction of the 2027 election is heading,” he said.
The former chairman also defended the decision of the party leadership to dissolve the former National Working Committee, saying the move was voluntary and aimed at repositioning the party for national development.
“We did not form the party for ourselves. We formed it for a greater Nigerian nation. At the appropriate time, we opened the doors for everybody to join in building the country,” he added.
Addressing concerns over legal disputes and separate conventions organised by different groups within the party, Nwosu said the ADC’s internal Alternative Dispute Resolution, ADR, mechanism remained available to resolve grievances.
“The only disruptive tendencies we are seeing are from people in government who are uncomfortable with the growing strength of ADC,” he stated.
On the leadership of former Senate President, David Mark, within the coalition, Nwosu expressed confidence in his ability to reposition the party.
He said: “At the beginning, I was concerned whether the coalition would deliver, but David Mark is focused and disciplined. He is committed to delivering results for Nigerians.’’
Nwosu further denied allegations that party tickets were sold to aspirants, including former presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu.
“There has never been any transaction for tickets in ADC. Nobody paid me for any ticket. We are committed to building a new Nigeria, not transactional politics,” he stressed.
He also clarified that arrangements involving party stakeholders, including Nafiu Bala Gombe, were based on collective sacrifice and internal understanding, rather than personal deals.
“It is not about transactions. All of us agreed to make sacrifices for the country and work together for victory,” he said.
