The Federal Republic of Nigeria has scheduled a hearing in the case involving Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The hearing is set to take place on March 25, 2025, at 9:30 AM at the Federal High Court, Abuja, ABN TV reports.
According to the court notice, the case has been moved from the General Cause List to the Hearing Paper for formal proceedings. The notice, signed by the court registrar, instructs all parties to appear in court on the scheduled date, failing which they may face legal consequences.
The document warns that all evidence, including witness testimonies and supporting documents, must be presented at the hearing. Any party seeking to delay the proceedings must submit a formal request to the court as soon as possible, providing substantial reasons for such an application.
Additionally, the court has emphasized that witnesses who are summoned must be given adequate notice, and those requiring financial compensation for their time must have such arrangements fixed and deposited with the court in advance.
Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled IPOB leader, has been in legal battles with the Nigerian government over allegations of treason and terrorism-related charges. His trial has been a subject of national and international attention, with supporters calling for his release and the government maintaining its stance on prosecuting him.
With this new hearing date, all eyes will be on the Federal High Court in Abuja as legal proceedings continue in one of Nigeria’s most politically sensitive trials.
