Yobe State House of Assembly has given accelerated consideration to a bill seeking the amendment of Hisbah Commission law.

The bill, which was presented by the executive arm of government, scaled through second reading on the floor of the House after extensive deliberations by members on Tuesday.

Leading the debate on the bill, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon. Nasiru Hassan Yusuf said that the Hisbah bill, which was assented by the governor, was referred back to the House for the amendment of some sections.

The lawmaker added that when the bill is amended, it will separate the functions of the office of the executive chairman and the state Commandant of the Hisbah Commission.

The Majority Leader called on the members to support the bill.

Presiding over the sitting, the Speaker of the House, Rt Hon. Chiroma Buba Mashio committed the bill to the House standing committee on Justice and Religious Affairs for further legislative action.
