Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has strongly criticized the newly formed anti-Tinubu coalition that recently assumed control of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), calling it a “gang of failed and expired politicians”.
Speaking during a media interaction on Thursday, Wike launched a scathing attack on key members of the coalition, questioning their credibility and past performance in public office. He dismissed their pledge to “rescue Nigeria” as disingenuous, accusing them of seeking relevance after years of political underperformance.
Targeting former Senate President David Mark, who now chairs the coalition under the ADC, Wike remarked, “I heard David Mark say they want to rescue Nigeria. That Nigerians are not happy. But the man was Senate President for eight years. Were Nigerians happy then? There was not a single project in Otukpo. He flew in with helicopters yet couldn’t deliver anything. His daughter even won a seat under the APC in his own constituency. That’s how much influence he had left.”
Wike went on to criticize other members of the coalition:

Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, was blamed for “plunging Nigeria into heavy debt through Chinese loans”.

Hadi Sirika, former Aviation Minister, was mocked over the failure of the controversial Air Nigeria project.

Abubakar Malami, ex-Attorney General of the Federation, was accused of offering little in resolving Nigeria’s security crises during his tenure.

Aminu Tambuwal, former Speaker of the House of Representatives and ex-Governor of Sokoto State, was questioned on what impact he made during his years in office.
“When they were in power, Nigerians were supposedly happy. But now that they are out, suddenly Nigerians are angry?” Wike asked rhetorically.
“Was it under Tinubu that banditry started? He’s trying to solve inherited problems. What did those before him do?”
Wike also took a jab at Bolaji Abdullahi, former Minister of Sports, accusing him of joining the ADC only after falling out with his political mentor, Senator Bukola Saraki.
Concluding his remarks, Wike maintained that the only party with a realistic chance of challenging President Bola Tinubu in 2027 is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) — but only if it can put its house in order.
