Abia state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has said his administration will not hesitate to apply the principle of no work, no pay if conversation with the striking teachers in the state fails.

The Governor who spoke on Wednesday while featuring on Channels TV breakfast shows Sunrise Daily monitored by ABN TV expressed surprise that the teachers embarked on strike despite the payment of three months of backlog of salaries in December.

According to the Governor, his administration has engaged the teachers in a conversation with the assurance that all outstanding salaries will be paid in no distant time.

He however threatened that if the conversation with the teachers fails, those who do not work will not be paid.

He also said the payment of primary school teachers’ salaries are up to date, adding that only the secondary school teachers have few outstanding.
