The German Embassy in Nigeria has warned Nigerians against relying on misinformation from so-called visa agents when seeking information about visa applications.

The embassy issued the warning in a post on its official X account on Wednesday, urging Nigerians to obtain visa-related information directly from official sources.

“Beware of misinformation. Save yourself the hassle & just ask us directly,” the embassy said.

The mission also encouraged Nigerians to share claims they had heard from “visa agents” in the comments, saying it would address some of the claims in upcoming posts.

“Tell us some of the things you’ve heard from ‘visa agents’ in the comments, and we’ll answer in upcoming posts,” it said.

The German Embassy further clarified that it does not have partnerships with visa agents.

“We do not work with any ‘visa Agents’!” the embassy stated.

It added that all relevant information is freely available through its official website.

The embassy’s warning comes amid the circulation of potentially misleading information about visa applications and procedures.

It urged Nigerians to verify such information through official channels to avoid unnecessary costs, confusion and possible fraud.
