Abia State Police Command has it has significantly improved the security situation in the state in the last six months, noting that it works in synergy with sister security agencies to ensure that kidnapping and robbery is reduced to the barest minimum across the state.

Spokesperson of the command, ASP Maureen Chinaka stated this on Thursday while featuring as guest in ABN TV’s current affairs programme “Crime Update“.

She said Abia is one of the relatively calm states in the country, an achievement she attributed to the hard work being put in place by the police and other security agencies to ensure that lives and property are adequately secured in the South East state.

So far, in the last six months there’s been a drop in kidnap related crimes and robbery unlike it used to be before now, that shows that the Nigerian police Abia State command is on its toes and ensuring that the needful is done in safeguarding lives and properties in the state.

“We will continue to give our best because we are here to sarve, we will continue to improve in our best to ensure that all lives and properties are safe in the state and to ensure that Abia State is comfortable for all and sundry.”

She also said the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie has zero tolerance for indiscipline misconduct, unprofessionalism, bullying and extortion.

She therefore urged residents to make use of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) of the command that is saddled with the responsibility of receiving and investigating matters or complaints on misconducts of officers of the Nigerian police force.

ASP Chinaka encouraged Abians to be law-abiding, saying security is a collaborative responsibility that requires all to be involved

She also advised everyone to get their vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles registered to avoid harassment by security agencies.
