Interpol Systems Consultant and security expert, Sir Chikwe Udensi has expressed sadness over the passage of the first civilian governor of Abia State, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, describing him as a true statesman who believed in the unity, peace, and development of the nation.
Onu, a former minister of Science, Technology and Innovation under former President Muhammadu Buhari was confirmed dead on Thursday at the age of 72.
In a condolence message on Friday, Sir Udensi said Onu’s death is most devastating and shocking.

Sir Udensi noted that the late Dr. Onu was an outstanding scholar, who served at various capacities with utmost integrity.
“Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu’s death is devastating and shocking. Indeed, Nigeria has lost a statesman who believed so much in the unity, peace, progress, and development of the nation.
“He was known for always adorning his white native wears and traditional red cap, and very soft-spoken. He championed the inclusion of Igbo in the country’s political equation and history will be kind to him”, he stated.
Sir Udensi commiserated with the family of the former Minister, the government and people of Ebonyi state, and all his political associates over the huge loss.
