Two Persons Appear In Court Over Alleged N3.1m Fraud In Maiduguri

The Maiduguri Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday, June 27, 2022, arraigned one Peter Ennemakwu Agbenyo before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court on one count charge of cheating to the tune of N1, 800,000.00 (One Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira).

The charge read: “That you, Peter Ennemakwu Agbenyo sometime in March, 2020 in Maiduguri, Borno State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, dishonestly induced Okwor Nkemakonam Paul to deliver to you the sum of N1,800,000.00 (One Million, Eight Hundred Thousand Naira) via your account number 2138971646 domiciled with UBA Plc under the guise that the said amount represent payment for purchase of Toyota Corolla 2010 which you are yet to deliver and thereby committed and an offence contrary to Section 320 (a) and Punishable under Section 322 of the Penal Code Cap 102 Laws of Borno State.”

The defendant pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charge preferred against him by the EFCC.

Upon his plea, prosecution counsel, Mukhtar Ali Ahmed, prayed the court for a trial date and to remand the defendant at the Maiduguri Correctional Centre, a release by Wilson Uwujaren, Head, Media & Publicity of EFCC says.

The charge reads: “That you, Mohammed Ibrahim (aka Baba Hajia) Sometime in December 2021 at Maiduguri, Borno State within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, being entrusted with dominion over certain properties to wit; MERCEDES C-CLASS 180 DARK IN COLOUR by ABBAS BATURE CHIBOK valued at (One Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira) which you sold the said Mercedes to one Adamu Gwoza, dishonestly misappropriates the entire sum of N1, 300,000.00 (One Million, Three Hundred Thousand Naira) and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 311 of the Penal Code Cap. 102 Laws of Borno State of Nigeria and punishable under Section 312 of the same Law. مواقع القمار العالمية

The defendant pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charge.
