The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, seated in Jos, has reaffirmed the legitimacy of Musa Agah of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the duly elected representative for the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency in Plateau State.

The tribunal’s unanimous verdict was delivered by its chairman, Justice William Olamide, on Thursday.

The candidate of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Gwani Alkali, had contested the election results and lodged a petition with the tribunal.

However, the tribunal held that Alkali’s petition lacked merit and subsequently dismissed it.

The court ruled that Alkali was unable to substantiate allegations of overvoting and also failed to establish the legal standing (locus standi) to challenge the nomination and sponsorship of Agah.

The court, therefore, pronounced Agah the duly elected representative for the Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency.
