President Bola Tinubu has sworn in the board and management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), seven weeks after their appointment on April 2, 2025.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday afternoon at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja. Among those inaugurated were the board’s Non-Executive Chairman, Ahmadu Kida, and the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPCL, Bashir Ojulari.
Following the brief event, President Tinubu proceeded to the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit held at the State House Banquet Hall.
The newly constituted 11-member board includes representatives from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, as well as officials from key federal ministries.
A breakdown of the board membership includes:
Adedapo Segun and Bello Rabiu – representing the North West
Yusuf Usman – representing the North East
Babs Omotowa, former Managing Director of Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) – representing the North Central
Austin Avuru – Non-Executive Director for the South-South
David Ige – representing the South-West
Henry Obih – representing the South-East
Also appointed to the board are:
Lydia Jafiya, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance – serving as the ministry’s representative
Aminu Ahmed — representing the Ministry of Petroleum Resources
Present at the ceremony were senior government officials, including the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; and Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri.
