The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a fresh reduction in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol), with new rates now ranging from ₦875 to ₦905 per litre across the country, depending on location.
This new pricing regime reflects a ₦15 per litre reduction nationwide and was announced on the refinery’s official social media handle on Thursday. The adjustment applies to all major fuel marketers in partnership with the refinery, including MRS, Ardova, Heyden, Optima Energy, Techno Oil, and Hyde Energy.
Under the previous pricing structure, Lagos residents paid ₦890 per litre, while prices rose to ₦920 in the North-East and South-South regions. With the revised rates, Lagos now pays ₦875 per litre, and residents in the North-East and South-South will pay ₦905.
A detailed breakdown of the updated prices is as follows:
Lagos: ₦875
South-West: ₦885
North-West & North-Central: ₦895
South-South & South-East: ₦905
North-East: ₦905
Dangote Refinery has urged consumers to patronize only its accredited retail partners and report any violations through its hotlines: +234 707 470 2099 or +234 707 470 2100.
“Our quality petrol and diesel are refined for better engine performance and are environmentally friendly,” the company stated in its official notice.
According to sources, this price cut follows the return of a refund benefit policy offered to customers earlier in the week.
The development coincides with reports that independent oil marketers have resumed large-scale petrol importation. Fresh data reveals that over 496.17 million litres of petrol were brought into Nigeria between May 11 and May 20, 2025.
Findings based on the Tanker Position Report, obtained from Blue Sea Maritime, show that about 370,000 metric tonnes of petrol were offloaded at various depots during the same period, with the products arriving at several seaports.
On Monday, the 650,000-barrel-per-day Lekki-based refinery said, “The naira-for-crude deal allowed it to reduce the price of petrol, which translates to reduced costs at the pumps.”
Despite fluctuations in global oil prices, Dangote Refinery emphasized that it has remained consistent in lowering petrol prices.
In a press statement signed by the Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the company reiterated its mission: “The decision to maintain price stability reflects its unwavering commitment to supporting the Nigerian economy and alleviating the burden on consumers from the increase in fuel prices by maintaining price stability.”
