President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr. Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha for reappointment as Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure, at the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).
Ukoha, an indigene of Ebem Ohafia in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State, is the son of the late HRH Eze Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, JP, Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ohafia.
The presidential nomination, which is subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate, would see Ukoha serve another five-year term at the regulatory agency responsible for overseeing Nigeria’s midstream and downstream petroleum operations.
President Tinubu, while forwarding the nomination to the Senate, urged lawmakers to give it expeditious consideration to ensure institutional continuity and strengthen the authority’s regulatory and oversight capacity.
Ukoha’s responsibilities at the NMDPRA include oversight of petroleum product distribution systems, storage facilities and retail infrastructure, critical components of Nigeria’s petroleum supply chain.
His nomination for another term comes as the petroleum industry continues to navigate challenges relating to product distribution, transportation safety, infrastructure development and regulatory compliance.
For the people of Ebem Ohafia and Abia State, the nomination also draws attention to the continued representation of their community at the national level, particularly in a strategic sector of the Nigerian economy.
Ukoha’s late father, HRH Eze Ukoha Kalu Ukoha, JP, was a respected traditional ruler whose leadership and contributions to the development of Ebem Ohafia remain part of the community’s history.
The reappointment will become effective upon Senate confirmation, after which Ukoha is expected to continue his responsibilities for another five-year tenure.
