As discussions over the zoning of the leadership position of the 10th National Assembly continue, President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu met with APC National Working Committee (NWC) leadership on Friday.
According to information obtained by ABN TV, the meeting, which was held at the Defence House in Abuja, including the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the Deputy National Chairman for the North, Senator Abubakar Kyari, the Deputy National Chairman for the South, Emma Eneukwu, and the Party’s National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
According to a dependable source who wished to remain anonymous, Tinubu informed party leaders during the meeting that he chose Akpabio to serve as the 10th Senate President and Senator Jibrin Barau would serve as his deputy.
Abbas Tajudeen was given the go-ahead to lead the 10th House after a compromise was struck on the next Speaker of the House of Representatives.
It is true that Asiwaju met with Adamu, Omisore, Kyari, and Eneukwu today (Friday), according to the source. They decided Jibrin would serve as Akpabio’s assistant and the next Senate President. The following Speaker will be TJ (Abbas Tajudeen).
The source further stated that the job of Secretary to the Government of the Federation would be awarded to the North Central as compensation.
Remember that Adamu had suggested on Wednesday at the conclusion of the NWC meeting that the president-elect and the ruling party would come to an understanding regarding the zoning of the leadership positions of the upcoming assembly.
“That is not what today’s meeting is all about. When we do the zoning meeting, we don’t just go alone as a party. Zoning is to take along the person who has the mandate of this country, the president-elect, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, we want to take him along. He traveled after the election and he came back only last week and we have to carry him along.”
“And we cannot stop those who are ambitious or zoning interests, or individual interests, we cannot deny them. And as long as that is there, we have to find a way, persuasively, to reach some level of consensus. That’s what we are working on. It is not a one-day affair,” Adamu had said.
