A chieftain of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA in Abia State, Sir Chikwe Udensi has expressed sadness over the passing away of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s governorship candidate in the state, Prof. Eleazear Uche Ikonne, saying his death is a rude shock.

He said the late Prof. Ikonne was a shining star who reached the peak of his career as an academic, having presided over as the Vice-Chancellor of the state-owned Abia State University, Ututu.

In a condolence message on Wednesday, the Interpol Systems Consultant noted that Prof. Ikonne’s death is a collective loss to the generality of the people of Abia, maintaining that he gave his all in the service of the state.

It is with deep sense of loss that I mourn a very great and illustrious son of Abia, Prof. Uche Ikonne who did not only embody the true definition of a gentleman but was a bridge builder who laboured to see a greater Abia.

“I commiserate with his family, the government and people of Abia State over this huge loss.
