The Senator representing Abia North, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu will be at the commissioning for public use a 141MW Aba Integrated Power Project (Aba IPP) a project of the Geometric Power, ABN TV reports.

A letter addressed to the former Abia governor signed by the Chairman/CEO of Geometric Power, Prof. Bart Nnaji inviting him for the project commissioning said the power plant can be expanded to 188MW.

Sen. Kalu a former Chief Whip of the Senate will commission the Aba IPP project on 24h of February 2024 at 10am, the letter says.

“The Aba IPP consists of 141MW Power Plant to be expanded to 188MW post commissioning”.

According to the letter, the project also consists the acquisition of the electricity distribution assets in the Aba Ring-Fenced Area (ARFA)covering over 4000 sq kilometers within nine (9) LGAs of Abia State, including Aba metropolis.

Additionally, it also consists the construction and installation of over 140km of brand new 33 kV and 40km of 11kV overhead lines, as well as approximately 1500 km of 400-volt lines.

The letter added that the project consists of, “Construction and installation of one (1 ) No. 3 x 60 MVA brand new power plant substation, four (4) No. 2 x 15 MVA brand new injection substations, and refurbishing/upgrade of three (3) No. 2 x 15 MVA substations.

“Construction of a 27-kilometer dedicated gas pipeline with gas preparation infrastructure and gas metering stations at both ends of the pipeline.”
