The senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the former governor of Abia State, has felicitated with the people of Arochukwu ancient kingdom on their Ikeji festival, which is also known as the new yam festival.

In a statement released by his media office, Senator Kalu expressed his joy at being able to join the people of Arochukwu in celebrating this important festival.

He said that the Ikeji festival is a time for the people to come together and celebrate their heritage, culture, and traditions, and he was honored to be a part of it.


Senator Kalu also commended the people of Arochukwu for their resilience in preserving their traditions and urged them to continue to do so for future generations.

He called on other leaders in Abia north to emulate this gesture and show their support for traditional festivals and cultural celebrations in their various communities.

The Ikeji festival is an annual celebration of the new yam harvest in Arochukwu, and it is a time for the people to thank their gods for a bountiful harvest and to pray for more blessings to come.
