Mr. Chisom Lennard, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Director in Ahoada-West Local Government Area of Rivers State who was kidnapped by gunmen on Saturday, has been slain.

The deceased was reportedly kidnapped by unknown gunmen wearing in police uniforms while voting at Ibagwa polling unit 2, Ward 10 in Ahoada West LGA.

When the incident occurred, Lennard was exercising his right to vote in the gubernatorial and state assembly elections.

According to accounts, the APC leader was attempting to prevent gunmen from stealing voting equipment when he was carried away to an unknown location.

Darlington Nwauju, the party’s state publicity secretary, confirmed the event to the Daily Trust on Sunday.

Nwauju stated, “He was abducted from his polling unit during the voting process and taken away.”

“Nobody knew where they took him to. It was later yesterday evening (Saturday) that his body was discovered. He was the APC LGA caretaker chairman and a Ph.D. student at Rivers State University.”
