The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Abia Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general election, Rt. Hon. Emeka Atuma has called on party members to remain united and committed to securing victory for the APC in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking during a thanksgiving and appreciation meeting on Thursday at his campaign office in Umuahia, Atuma expressed profound gratitude to party leaders, stakeholders, delegates and members across the six local government areas of Abia Central Senatorial District for the confidence reposed in him by electing him as the party’s senatorial flag bearer.
He specifically appreciated party faithful from Ikwuano, Umuahia North, Umuahia South, Isiala Ngwa North, Isiala Ngwa South and Osisioma Ngwa for their overwhelming support during the APC senatorial primary election.
“I sincerely thank every member of our great party for finding me worthy to fly the APC flag for Abia Central Senatorial District. This victory belongs to every loyal party member, and together we shall work tirelessly to deliver electoral success,” Atuma said.
The former lawmaker described the APC ticket as a platform of hope and progress, expressing confidence that the party is well-positioned to make significant political gains across Abia Central and Abia State in the 2027 general elections.
He stressed that the APC remains united, focused, and prepared to present a credible alternative capable of earning the confidence of the electorate.
Calling for reconciliation after the party primaries, Atuma assured members that every stakeholder would have a place in the party’s activities regardless of their roles during the contest.
Drawing inspiration from the biblical parable of the workers in the vineyard, he said the primary election had ended and that it was now time for healing, unity, and collective action.
“We have resolved to move forward as one united family. There will be no division or exclusion. Every member has a role to play as we work together to achieve victory for our party,” he stated.
Atuma commended APC members at the grassroots for their resilience, loyalty and commitment, describing them as the backbone of the party’s growing popularity across the senatorial district.
He also praised the leadership of the APC for conducting what he described as a peaceful, transparent, and credible primary election, assuring members that the party’s campaign would focus on issues affecting the people and provide practical solutions to developmental challenges.
Expressing optimism about the party’s chances, Atuma maintained that the APC possesses the strength, capacity, and organisational structure required to compete effectively in the forthcoming elections.
“Our focus is victory, and we are confident that with unity, hard work and God’s grace, the APC will emerge victorious in Abia Central and contribute meaningfully to expanding the party’s presence in Abia State,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, the APC candidate for Isiala Ngwa North/Isiala Ngwa South Federal Constituency, Chief Uzoma Ihuka, urged people of the South-East to embrace active participation in national politics by aligning with the centre.
According to him, stronger political engagement at the national level would attract greater opportunities and accelerate development across the region.
Several party leaders also delivered goodwill messages, reaffirming their commitment to party unity and electoral victory. Among them were Chief Ike Anyatonwu, who spoke on behalf of Isiala Ngwa North and South; Nnamdi Amala Nwosu, representing Osisioma Ngwa; Chuks B. Oriaku; Prince Tony Eze, representing Ikwuano/Umuahia; and Tony Otuonye, who emphasized the need for discipline, inclusiveness and unwavering commitment to the party’s collective strategy ahead of the general election.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Emeka Atuma Campaign Organisation, Hon. Chidi Nwosu, thanked party members for their overwhelming support, describing the outcome of the primary election as a clear demonstration of confidence in Atuma’s leadership and capacity.
He expressed optimism that the unity displayed by party members would translate into victory for the APC in the 2027 general election.
The appreciation meeting was attended by the APC Abia Central Zonal Chairman, Prince Anthony Okeh; the APC State Publicity Secretary, High Chief Uche Aguoru; members of the APC State Working Committee; former Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Comrade Eugene Eze Job; as well as party leaders, stakeholders and supporters from across the six local government areas of Abia Central Senatorial District.
