The local government elections in Ondo State on Saturday were marked by a strong security presence across the region.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that both the Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were stationed at polling units and key locations throughout the state.

By 7:00 a.m., security personnel were visible at critical points along major roads, including outside the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) in Akure and on Airport Road in Akure North Local Government Area (LGA).

At locations such as Agbogbo Roundabout, Fiwasaye/Mobil junction, and near the A Division of the Nigeria Police on Oba Adesida Road, security teams were seen enforcing the movement restriction order, stopping vehicles and individuals not involved in essential activities.

In Okitipupa and surrounding areas, security forces were deployed on key roads and at various polling stations.

However, NAN observed that some residents continued with their daily routines. Young people were seen playing soccer at Ijapo Housing Estate and in the Odo-Ikoyi area of Akure South LGA, while commercial activities persisted in parts of the state, with some shops and food vendors operating as usual.
