Despite his support for the subsidy, Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi argues the current administration’s elimination of it was a “forceful” attempt.

Obi talked to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday while attending an electoral petition tribunal session. The termination of the petrol subsidy followed President Bola Tinubu’s declaration that the petrol subsidy regime was finished.

“If you have followed me very well right from the time I was a member of Jonathan’s economic management team, I consistently maintained that subsidy should be removed because I see it as organized crime,” the LP candidate said.
