The Nigeria Democratic Congress, Ekiti State chapter, has unveiled its candidates for the 2027 senatorial, House of Representatives, and state House of Assembly elections.
NDC chieftain Dr. Ayodele David-Adesua, who emerged as the House of Representatives candidate for Ekiti North I Federal Constituency, hailed party stakeholders and supporters for the peaceful conduct of the primaries in which the candidates were affirmed.
David-Adesua, who spoke in Ado Ekiti after the affirmation exercise on Friday, stressed that “the NDC remains committed to transparency, youth empowerment, economic development and purposeful representation for the people of Ekiti State”.
The NDC House of Representatives candidate expressed confidence that the party would record a strong showing and secure victory for its candidates in the federal and state legislative elections in 2027.
“On my part, I assure my constituents of quality representation in the House of Representatives when elected in the general election.
“The peaceful and organised nature of the process to unveil NDC candidates in Ekiti State speaks volumes about the quality of membership, organisational ability and strength of purpose in the NDC. We will not compromise the victory of our candidates in the 2027 general elections,” he said.
The party, following extensive consultations, stakeholder engagements and strategic meetings involving party leaders across the South-West zone, also affirmed its consensus candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The affirmation process, which followed the aspirants’ dinner and stakeholders’ meeting with the Deputy National Chairman (South), Babatunde Alli, and the National Chairman, South-West Zone, Pastor Adedayo Ekong, produced a unified list of candidates for the senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly positions in Ekiti State.
The NDC state chairman, Musa Arogundade, said, “The candidates emerged through a transparent consensus arrangement designed to strengthen party unity, internal democracy and electoral readiness ahead of the 2027 elections.”
The party listed its affirmed senatorial candidates for the 2027 elections as Olu Alufa (Ekiti Central), Prince Adeyinka Alli (Ekiti North) and Dr Ayokunle Ayodele (Ekiti South).
It stated that the House of Representatives candidates are Babafemi Adegbite (Ekiti Central I), Modupe Adesola (Ekiti Central II), Ayodele David-Adesua (Ekiti North I), Temiyo Ajayi (Ekiti North II), Oluwashola Babalola (Ekiti South I) and Sunday Adebayo (Ekiti South II).
The party also unveiled its House of Assembly candidates.
In his remarks, the Ekiti South senatorial candidate, Ayodele, hailed the peaceful and visionary process, describing it as a rejuvenation of democratic culture in Nigeria.
He said, “The emergence of the NDC at this critical period is nothing short of a divine intervention. The NDC represents hope, rescue, rebuilding and the restoration of people-centred governance capable of repositioning Nigeria for greatness.”
Ayodele reiterated that the party remained committed to transparency, youth empowerment, economic development and purposeful representation for the people of Ekiti State.
Also speaking, the senatorial candidate for Ekiti North, Alli, commended the consensus process, describing it as a reflection of unity, maturity and purposeful leadership within the NDC.
He assured party members and residents of Ekiti North of his commitment to quality representation, youth empowerment and people-centred governance.
The NDC House of Representatives candidate for Ekiti Central I, Adegbite, said the party had shown that credible leadership could emerge through dialogue, fairness and collective vision.
Party stakeholders at the event expressed confidence that the emergence of the consensus candidates would further strengthen the NDC’s growing popularity and position the party as a formidable political force in Ekiti State despite the dominance of the APC.
They called on members, supporters, youths, professionals and other Nigerians to rally behind the candidates, assuring that the NDC was set to realise its mission “to rescue, rebuild and reposition Nigeria for sustainable progress and inclusive governance.”
