The umbrella body of Nigerian students, the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has honoured the Founder of Unubiko Foundation, Chief Chijioke James Ume (Koos) with the prestigious honour of ‘Ray Of Hope For Abia Youths’.

The award which is in recognition of his numerous philanthropic and humanitarian gestures was conducted by the leadership of Zone F of the association.

Speaking at the Abam Onyerubi in Arochukwu LGA country home of the Award receipient, the NANS President, Comrade Usman Barambu who was represented by the NANS National Treasurer, Comr. Chinelo Okolie, extolled Chief Ume’s Humanitarian achievements, describing it as legendary and worthy of emulation.

In their separate speeches, The NANS South East Zonal Secretary, Comr. Frank Eme Orji and NANS Abia Stakeholders Chief Scribe, Comr. Chigozie Great O. poured encomiums on the Chief Ume, who is also the Publisher of the Whistler Newspapers for his enviable philanthropic projects.

Among such humanitarian projects are the building and renovation of Schools, Churches, Court Rooms, Women Development centers, Scholarship for indigent students, Empowerment of widows and Youths, among others.

Highlight of the event was the investiture of the Awardee which was anchored by the NANS Abia former Zonal Rep. Comr. Cokey Lordson Nwachukwu and witnessed by Dr. C. K. Okoro, NANS Abia Staff Adviser, the President of National Association of Abia State Students (NAASS), Comr. Bethel Agbara, SUG Presidents, Union Officials and Stakeholders across the various Institutions of Higher Learning in the South East (NANS Zone F).
