In the face of criticism, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, stated that no member of the National Assembly will receive any money from the N70 billion budgeted to sustain their working conditions.

In a statement issued Wednesday, he stated that the amount will be used to purchase furnishings and renovate lawmakers’ offices. However, he stated that the Senate was not prepared to join forces with people it referred to as misguided and mischief makers who claimed the N70 billion for the National Assembly was a gift from the Executive branch of government.

The Senate further stated that the passing of the Supplementary Appropriation Act was part of the Senate’s constitutional duty to accommodate money for the Federal Government’s Palliative for the Nigerian people, as well as other national demands.
