As the Christian community marks mothering Sunday today, the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah has congratulated mothers across the country for their role in nursing homes which he said is the bedrock of a peaceful society.

Describing them as nation builders, Dr. Ogah in a statement of Sunday made available to ABN TV said mothers have for centuries demonstrated that they are backbone to the peace and progress of any society by the role they play as character molders, caregivers, teachers, and nurses.

While decrying harmful social and cultural practices meted to mothers and women generally in contemporary society, he expressed the commitment of the federal government to at all times uphold with dignity and honour the role of women to national development.

The Minister while congratulating them on the occasion of the mothering Sunday, also appealed to them to continue raising children that will be an asset to their homes, community, and the society at large, urging them to inculcate good moral behavior in their children and wards.
